Ch. 1 The blue rose puppet

In the dark forgotten forest of Transylvania, stood a dark old castle. lit by the moon, it stood surrounded by large bushes that bloomed blue-roses. The old buildings stone structure bared large stain glass windows with blue roses depicted on them. On the bottom floor was a basement, a dungeon that was only given a small opening with three thick solid metal bars, letting in the small rays of moonlight, revealing the small stone room. Old and unattended, vines began to flourish on the walls of the room, stretching out past the steel bars, reaching for the moonlight that nourished it.

At the end of the room, a small and old bed sat against the wall, chained to the floor to keep in place. However, laying in the bed was a young girl. Her lush and long deep brown hair draped over her. Without any shoes, she was dressed in a black ball gown, decorated in blue roses.

She lied there sleeping, perfectly as though she were placed there, just like you would place a doll that was ready for bed. But her skin was so pale, it made her appear closer to being dead than asleep...

Hearing the distant howls of the wolves, the young girl’s body lightly stirs from its slumber as if life had come back to her cold and delicate frame. Her vibrant cerulean eyes fluttered opened, gazing at the stone ceiling above her. She slowly sat up and looked around the room that confined her. She wasn’t sure where she was, the small room was unfamiliar to her. Getting up from her bed to have a better look around, she almost instantly fell to the cold stone floor, as her legs seemed to have been out of use for so long, they had become too weak to carry her off the floor... but with another attempt, she was able to finally walk.

“Where am I....?” She questioned. Looking around the room, she spots three steps behind her that lead to an old wooden door that was braced in steel. She slowly walked up the steps and reached for the doorknob. When her fingers curled around the cold knob, she twisted her wrist and pushed open the door, only to be met with a long flight of steps, with lit torches that sat on the wall to light the way.

Her cerulean eyes looked into the darkness upstairs before taking the first step and slowly making her way up.

Within 35 steps, the girl reached a door. It looked quite old and a lot more like a prison door...Without a second thought, she opened the door. She instantly felt the night wind blowing across her face and through her hair. The night sky and Its glorious moon that shined brilliantly amongst the stars were breathtaking...but that wasn’t the only thing. The view of the forest that surrounded the castle was also a sight to behold.

“Where is this...? Something about it seems...almost familiar” She pondered a bit before looking around a bit more. Only to realize the dungeon she had found herself in was the basement of a large bell tower. The tower was old but something about it told you it wouldn’t be collapsing any time soon.

Walking around the yard a bit more, the girl started to enjoy the funny feeling of grass beneath her feet, as it was much nicer than cold stone. The yard itself wasn’t very decorated, mostly just large and open...and with so many trees surrounding the place, it almost gave the feeling of being watched from the shadows of the forest...however, the many blue roses that grew on all the bushes we’re the one thing that always caught your eye at every turn. The bushes, in fact, surrounded the entire castle.

“They’re so beautiful...” The girl truly admired them, as something about them were so familiar to her, it was almost like looking at an old friend. However, when she reached out to pick one, a sharp thorn had pricked her delicate finger, causing her to instinctually pull her hand back.

“It’s bleeding...” Staring at the thick crimson blood leaking from the small cut on her finger had given her a strange sense of thirst and hunger. But before her mind could wonder long enough to find out, she suddenly heard the beautiful sound of a violin.

“This music...” Almost as if her body had a mind of its own, she quickly started to follow the sound of the music. The music, however, had lead hear back to the bell tower but only to discover another opening that leads upstairs into the tower. So she quickly made her way up the stairs, feeling her heart race the closer she got...until finally she reached a door, a door that must lead to the bell room.

Nervous, she slowly reached for the doorknob, unsure of who would be waiting for her on the other side. When she finally opened the door, her eyes instantly caught sight of the man playing the beautiful Melody. He was tall and had such a reach deep brown colored hair that it almost appeared black and it was just long enough for the tips to touch his shoulders. His clothing looked very Noble and rich, dressed in a black suit with a blue tie and a white undershirt with gold trimming on the jacket with a blue Rose in the jacket pocket with a thin gold chain. But more then anything, something about his beautiful blue eyes caught her attention.

Looking into them was like a spider web, she was caught and couldn’t get out.

“You’re finally awake,” The man said. His voice wasn’t too deep but it was quite soothing to the ears. He set his instrument aside, letting it rest against the wall. Looking at the lost girl, he smiled at her in delight.

“Excuse me...but where are we?” The girl asked, a bit nervous as she approached him, feeling her heartbeat quicken with every step the closer she got.

“What a silly question” He responded, reaching his large and cold hand towards the girl, causing a blush to run across her cheeks as he gently cupped her chin, gazing into her eyes that caused a chill to run down her spine.

“S-Silly?” She asked, confused by the man’s response.

“Why yes. You should know this place, my girl” He said, admiring the girl’s beauty, gently rubbing her cupped chin with his thumb.

“I don’t know this place....Or rather, I don’t remember. I don’t even remember who I am” She explained, looking at the man with such lost and sorrowful eyes...but he only seemed to be amused by this.

“My precious Marionette, your eyes really are beautiful when they look like that” He continued to smile, carefully moving his hand up her face to stroke her cheek, gently brushing the back of his fingers against her lightly rose colored cheeks.

“Marionette...?” Suddenly feeling a faint dizziness wash over her, she collapses into the man’s arms, feeling his hands hold her waist gently. His chest was much broader then she anticipated, almost giving her an odd sense of security.

“Such a delicate little thing you are” He whispered into the girl’s ear, moving a hand over her head and gently brushing his fingers through her lush locks of hair.

“Just...who are you, and how do you know me?” She asked, pulling away from the man, stumbling back a bit. However, the man ignored her question and just continued to watch her with a smile on his face. She couldn’t figure out this man and she couldn’t shake this feeling of fear that the man gave her. She stepped away from him...but he only stepped closer.

“What’s wrong my girl? You seemed frightened. Is something the matter?” The man said, continuing to approach the girl with a glimmer in his blue eyes. The girl continued to step away from the man but her mind only became hazier by the minute, her vision as cloudy as the thick fog that covered the woods. Unable to stand up any further, she finally collapsed, falling into the deep depths of slumber once more...The man loomed over her, smiling at her limp body just before kneeling down and scooping her up into his arms.

“My precious little Marionette...”
