Chapter 1

Every Summer Lin Kong returns to Goose Village to divorce his wife Shuyu. Goose Village is a small Village located in the mountains where the Summers are cool and the nights starlit. Lin Kong was the son of an infamous General named Ren Kong, young tall with a black ponytail and an audacious attitude Lin would always get into all sorts of troubles everywhere he go. Shuyu on the other hand is the daughter of rice farmers, fair and determined she wants to keep her family bloodline alive.

One Summer Lin and his father visited Goose Village to attend the Starlit Festival, an event that takes place once a year where the stars illuminate under the Azure river that’s adjacent to the village.Later on as night came the stars revealed themselves, exposing the light that shined upon the river that gave it a sparkle. At the same time both Lin and Shuyu were in awe as they glance at the sparkling river, “It’s beautiful” both spoke, unkwonly that they were right next to each other. They looked at each other and it was as if time paused, was it love at first sight ? There was an awkward silence

“My n-name is Lin fair lady what i-is yours?” Lin asked nervously

“Shuyu” she replied trying to hid her blush.

However both look back at the river and smiled “The river is beautiful” both thought in their heads, Lin went for the kill and took her hand into his. Admittedly both didn’t want to let go of each other that whole night.

On the Fifth Summer Lin Kong was named to be the next General of the army by his father. It was an honor for Lin to become the next in line for his family, he was happy but being a General means he wouldn’t be able to visit Shuyu whenever he wanted as he had his duties. Lin wanted something more than being an General, he wanted to be with Shuyu. Lin immediately asked Shuyu’s hand in marriage and she agreed. She wanted to stay in Goose Village but Lin Kong couldn’t because of his duties. They both had to wait every Summer where they could see each other again.

The love they had for each other was strong, soon Shuyu gave birth to two children. Their marriage was difficult though, both parents argued about the most trivial things. It was every Summer when Lin would come to home at Goose Village where he would bring his children gifts, It was gestures like this that started the arguments between the two lovers as the wife didn’t want her husband to spoil their children or when one of them forget about their anniversary .”Let’s have a divorce then !”, the phrase that both exclaimed to end their arguments.

On the Tenth Summer, Shuyu took her children for a walk along the Azure river near the village,

“Mother why are you and father still together even though you want a divorce” her daughter asked

She just looked at her and laughed “We still love each other, for better or for worse me and your father still love each other”.
