"This was an astonishing read from start to finish. I found myself getting lost in the story every time I picked it up again. The constant back and forth of perspective between recruits and veterans flowed beautifully. I would recommend this book to anyone because of its connection with politics and racism that it confronts head on. I’m eager to read the sequel and give my full support to the author."
A Fascinating Fantasy
"So this was a perfect start of a trilogy and an outstanding fantasy novel! The characters' portraits were amazing, and were gradually revealed, deepened and I loved, how I was made to follow a different characters' Pov, thus got a better view of their backstories and the surrounding world. I think my favorite character was Psykhe though... The Galaxis past, and all the different races were a fascinating and imaginative idea as well. The writing style was fast and well-paced, straight to the point. Meanwhile the plot -captivating, I could never know, what could happen next, I loved how the second chapter, where Theo was put on execution, got tied up with the ending chapters with Karnya,(was that his name?) that was a good plot movement, it caught me off guard. I would want to know more of Emvolo's religion though, especially how did that statue (which was featured in the church, in the last chapters - the final battle) looked like. Maybe this will be expanded in the later books... There were a few missing commas especially in the ending chapters, but they hadn't disturbed the enjoyment. Anyway, this was a real gem in terms of character designs and world building... A huge thank you, and even bigger kudos goes to the author! Thank you for this trully outstanding piece of literature!
