Chapter 1 ~ The Life of Us
Princess Tanah P.O.V
Picture this...you are kneeling in the center of the palace garden, as a small child, and the being kneeling next to you is your older sibling (my brother), you are both aware of the shadow casting over head, which has been provided by the single tower that is in front of you both. Without having the need to look beside you, you know that your faithful brother is kneeling next you, and you know that he will provide you with the love and care that you search for after every situation that involves the tall tower in front of you. Now with this small description you might say that we have committed a sin, done something unforgiving, or we are being spoken to due the things we could or wouldn’t have done.
In this case your view is wrong. Since the day I was nine and my brother being thirteen, or the day out father passed, we have been taken out to the garden or the courtyard for future purposes. Even though we were whimpering and cowering under the sinful and cold stare of our guardian, that single stare has only made us stronger and turned us into to the mighty beings who aren’t scared by much today, in saying this... our guardian has prepared for now and for our future.
Hello there, my name is Tanah, Princess of the bold minded city of Janham. That sibling of mine who was kneeling beside me is my older brother, Poden, or in this case The Grand Prince of Janham, the future king for those who don’t know what the “Grand Prince” means. He’s also the... chosen one, as well as being the only son to the tower in front of us. The tower dressed in fine silk with golden accessories would be our Mother, or better known as Queen Eun, Ruler of Janham.
The real name of our Mother will go unspoken as for severe punishments will taken out on those who speak or even mutter the name. In the city of Janham, word spreads like forest fire, so here...you have to think before you speak, your life depends on it. This rule applies for everyone inside the Palace gates. Speaking by first name to those inside the Palace, except for the water maidens, can be incredibly rude. Speaking or even Muttering the first names of nobles, warriors, scholars or any member of the Royal family can end with severe punishments such as the banishment of you and your family, meaning you will no longer have the privilege to live the wondrous life you thought you would have in the Kingdom or even the towns around Janham.
The towns that are scattered amongst our land and near our borders belong to us, anything beyond our borders doesn’t belong to us... but to them...
