The Fire-Breather

As the months went by she trained hard with Gideon and their relationship grew and became strong, he was everything to her, and she was going to make sure she protected him.

“Are you ready?” he asked and she nodded firmly. Gideon had never been so proud to call someone his, her courage and admiration humbled him.

She set out for the woods, once she walked past the two great oak trees her sense of protection left her and she settled herself like her Grandpa had taught her and listened to her environment. As predicted Derek and his followers jumped out from their place and ran towards her, she stood still even through her whole body was yelling to run. Before Derek could grab her Gideon jumped in front of her and pulled her behind his back while his followers surrounded the rogues. However the rogues had forseen this ambush for their members who had been hiding in the trees released arrows coated with wolfsbane and whoever got shot was instantly paralyzed.

Ashley looked around and saw that most of her pack members were on the floor, Gideon was barely holding his own, his black fur was coated in blood, turning to her right she saw Derek making his way to her with a feral smile on his lips, she took off running but he was faster because he had her pinned to the ground in no time.

“I will destroy everything you own and then you will belong to me, your mate will go first”, he snarled into her ear. Ashley stilled, he wouldn’t dare, her family? Her entire frame shook and he thought it was out of fear, Ashley’s breath came out in gasps hot enough to ignite the leaves underneath her chin, a red glow appeared on the crown of her head and moved to her feet. Derek jumped back and growled menacingly, Ashley got up slowly and turned to face him, her eyes were golden, and her hair glowed red, she walked closer to him but he backed away. Gideon turned to see what was happening and knew he had to get his people to safety.

“Fall back! Retreat!” he yelled and they obeyed and took cover. Ashley walked slowly towards Derek but he kept retreating. She let out a soul piercing scream and fire as hot as volcano lava bursted out of her body and burned every rogue, she moved her hand towards Derek and he was incenirated on the spot. She couldn’t make sense of why her powers had gotten to this level, she felt anger and it burned through.

“Ashley sweetheart it’s okay now?” said Gideon and she turned to him, the love of her life, he was safe and with that thought she collapsed.

“Ouch, my head hurts”. Gideon woke with a start and smiled when he saw Ashley was awake, he moved forward and sat beside her.

“Your Grandpa came to make sure you were okay, should I go get him? ” he said as he stroked her hair, she snuggled closer and laid her head on his lap.

“I really do love you Gideon”, she said softly and Gideon stilled, it was the first time she had said those words, pulling her so she was craddled against him he kissed her slowly.

“I want to hear it again”, he demanded and she complied sweetly. He chuckled and hugged her tightly. “I love you too Ashley, what did I do to deserve someone like you?” he asked and she pecked his lips.

“Hmm, I wonder”. His chuckle turned into a full blown laughter and Ashley smiled in satisfaction, headache forgotten.
