Prologue

*Sebastian*

I fell in love with her in a bookstore cafe.

After Starbucks decided to shut down this morning, I had to stop into the next cafe closest to my office. That’s when I saw her in the corner of the cafe, curled up in a big, brown leather chair reading a book.

Immediately, I know that she’s not like any of the other girls I’ve been with. She’s not wearing makeup, she’s not on her phone and she’s casually dressed in jeans, a sweater and some scuffed black boots with a black puffy jacket hanging over the arm of the chair she’s sitting in. The girl is positively stunning without help.

I’ve been standing and staring at her for a while now, completely forgetting about the reason I came into the shop in the first place. She has me captivated, the way she’s entirely focused on the book in her hands and nothing else. Her dark eyebrows will pull together or her nose will scrunch but she never laughs.

She has long, shiny, straight black hair, but when she tilts her head as she reads, the light catches her hair and it changes to brown. Her eyes and lips aren’t visible to me currently, but I’d put money on it that those features are just as beautiful as the rest of her is.

My phone buzzes with an alert that a meeting’s coming up, but I don’t fucking care. The girl that’s had my interest for the past half hour is almost done with that book I’m getting jealous of and when that happens, I plan on getting a photo of her pretty face to identify her with.

Luckily, my girl reads fast and a few minutes later, her chest rises with a deep inhale and she sets the book on top of another on the coffee table in front of her as she joins the rest of society again. I watch as her brown eyes scan the room and come to land on my emerald ones. Her eyes go wide for a moment before she furrows her eyebrows in confusion. I get a good picture of her face before she diverts her eyes away from me with a blush creeping up her cheeks.

I watch as she looks down at her phone that’s been lighting up for a while and scrunches her nose in irritation. She types out a response quickly to whoever irritated her, puts her jacket on and grabs her books before she walks towards me on the way to the exit.

Instead of grabbing her arm and freaking her the fuck out, I take a step in front of her to block the exit. She bumps into my chest with a soft ‘uh’ sound and my arms snake around her waist to her steady her right where I want her. Fuck she feels good in my arms.

“Fuck, sorry, wasn’t watching where I was going.” I lie easily and take a small step back to see all of her face. Her wide eyes scan up my body and over my face before she finally responds.

“Um... yeah, it’s fine.”

“Are you okay, baby?” I ask her in genuine concern and smirk when her cheeks break out in a blush with my term of endearment.

“Yeah, I’m good.” She takes a deep breath, pushing her breasts against my chest on accident. “Thanks for catching me.”

“Anytime, babe.” I smile and wink at her.

“Sorry, I actually have to leave, so if you could let go of me...”

“I’ll let you go if you tell me your name.”

“Really?” She arches an eyebrow at me. Damn, my girl’s got some claws.

“Scouts honor,” I lie, I was never a scout. She rolls her eyes at me before giving in.

“My name’s Anna.” I regretfully pull my arms away from her, take a few steps back and stick out my hand.

“Sebastian.” Her small hand is engulfed by mine and I see a shiver run through her body. She tries to pull away but I tighten my grip and run my thumb back and forth on her inner wrist. Already, I’m fucking addicted to her touch. I smile down at her when goosebumps pop up on her arm.

“Nice to meet you Sebastian - ” I growl, my name coming out of her mouth is fucking heaven. ” - but I have to go.” I let go of her hand and watch with a smirk on my face as she leaves the bookstore.

She’ll be mine soon.
