Chapter 1
The three of us lived in a small town house on the outskirts of New York. My mother was a single parent and always tried to give us the best childhood she could. We grew up some what spoiled but my mother always made sure we understood the value of money from a young age. She often gave my brother and I chores around the house to earn extra money. When I turned fourteen I started working at the corner store on our street. My family meant everything to me because that was all I had. My sister Alexis was ten, my brother Xavier was twelve, and I was fourteen. Xavier and I enjoyed playing video games together and Alexis and I used to sit and color.
Everyday my mother dropped us off at our respectable schools. My high school was pretty big we had over 2,000 students so you rarely saw the same person twice. Weirdly enough my friend Abria and I had every class together. Abria was short and dark with beautiful curly hair and big lips. Guys would constantly ask her out and swoon over her beauty. She paid them no mind, Abria always told me that school was more important and they all wanted the same thing. She and I were inseparable we did everything together and looked after one and another. She always helped me see the best in situations and made me laugh no matter how sad or upset I was. She never judged my financial status and was a ride or die chick. We both graduated in the top five percent of our class. I remember walking across the stage and feeling excited that I was opening a new chapter in my life and upset that I was loosing my sister and best friend.
