Summary

Hello, you may know me by my mortal name, Crossman McKnight. I say mortal name because as of late I have acquired the robe of the Shade and because of this fact I obtain the handle as well. As Crossman takes on his new role in the Afterworld, he makes his first enemy, Satantho. Crossman realizes he needs to build a new cabinet and finds Joel, a jazz radio station owner. Joel lives a normal life on earth, going to work every day managing his radio station. Joel discovers Jessica, Crossman’s love on earth, during an interview and hires her right away. Jessica awakens Joel’s abilities and then is caught in a deep trance where she enters Satantho’s grasp in the pits of Hell. Can Joel save her? Will Joel’s abilities be enough to be part of Crossman’s new Cabinet?

Chapter 1

I welcome you to Book of Joel, the sequel to Growing Dim where my lead character Crossman battles with his new role in the Afterworld.

The afterlife is something I am very passionate about. If you haven’t read any of my other works, I urge you to read my novelette series as it explores a very different viewpoint on the afterlife.

However, with Book of Joel, you’ll find a new challenge I had to face when writing about the afterlife: religion. Towards the climax of Book of Joel, you’ll be introduced to a new character, Sciara, a blogger who must meet Cross’s challenge of helping to unify the universe, a very Utopic notion.

I hope you find Sciara’s response enlightening, and well, possible.

Looking forward to your reviews and as always, thank you for reading,

Nicholas. September, 2017.
