Ghosts
Squirrel and Bee were best friends and were so alike it sometimes creeped even them out. Squirrel was the more realistic one, she liked sports and loved reading comics and watching movies, all kinds except horror. Bee was the animal lover, she had a lot of animals at home and loved each and every single one. Whenever the topic fish or cats came on she was unstoppable with her facts. She also strongly believed in the supernatural, even more so in Ghosts.
One day when Bee was home, she decided it would be a good idea to turn on the old Wii. The Wii was a game console they had bought a few years back when it was a hype, but was now collecting dust together with the old TV it was connected to. Bee made her way upstairs and turned on the old TV and Wii. But instead of giving a normal image like the TV should have done, the image was highlighted in red and faded. Bee let out a startled sound and looked at the TV in fascination. Could it be haunted?
Bee thought back to the times her items would disappear and appear at random places or her shoe that had disappeared a long time ago and still wasn’t found, even though no one in her house had touched the expensive Transformers shoe. Bee, too scared to investigate, hit the TV with her fist. Immediately the old TV’s image turned normal again and Bee’s eyes widened. She was almost 100% sure she had just angered a ghost. Hurriedly she turned the TV and the Wii off and raced downstairs, not talking about it again.
The next day Bee immediately told Squirrel her discoveries with excitement. She was so glad her suspicions were sort of confirmed. Squirrel laughed at Bee’s excitement and shook her head “there’s no such thing as ghosts, Bee”. Bee scoffed at her friend “then how do you explain it?” Squirrel shrugged and kept walking. “I’m telling you! It’s true” Bee exclaimed. Squirrel chuckled and nodded “if you say so”. Bee grumbled at her best friends response.
A few weeks passed and soon Bee’s birthday came up. She invited all her friends; Colin, Squirrel, Moose and NickahChi. The party wouldn’t start until 8 in the evening, but Squirrel and Moose had decided to come earlier. They had to take the train to Bee’s hometown where she would pick them up at the station. So when the train arrived at the station Moose called Bee to let her know they were there. Bee immediately took her bike and rode to the station to pick up her friends. Upon arriving Bee’s eyes fell on the two big bags her friends were carrying. “You’re both sleeping over?” she asked with a smile. Squirrel nodded enthusiastically and dumped her bag on the back of Bee’s bike. “We are” she said with a smile and Moose nodded in agreement.
When the three of them finally made it to Bee’s house after a long walk, they immediately took the bags upstairs where there was an old couch that could be folded out into a double bed. Bee pulled out some sleeping bags and threw them on the makeshift bed. The three of them decided to stay upstairs until the rest came. “wanna play on the Vii?” Bee asked after awhile of just sitting around and talking. Moose and Squirrel made a sound in agreement and Bee moved to turn on the old TV.
Just before Bee’s finger touched the on button the doorbell sounded downstairs. Bee raced downstairs and opened the door to reveal her best friend since birth, CD. “hey Colin” Bee smiled. Colin smiled back and followed Bee inside “hey bestie” He stepped hung his jacket on a hook. I decided to come earlier because I have to go to a swimming match at 7.30 and I probably won’t be back until 8.30 so I can make up for the time that will be lost” he smiled. “sure” Bee said and lead her friend upstairs where Moose and Squirrel were waiting patiently.
Bee walked towards the old TV as Colin took a seat on the makeshift bed. She pushed the on button and immediately the screen lightened up. But once again, instead of showing a normal image the screen was highlighted by red and faded. Bee gasped and pointed at the screen repeatedly “see! I told you it was haunted!” she exclaimed with an accusing eye on Squirrel. Her three friends stared at it with big eyes while Bee turned on the Vii. “and the image still changes when I turn on the Vii so it hasn’t crashed” she pointed out. Squirrel let out a whimper “okay, I believe you” she muttered. Bee turned back to the old TV and hit it with her fist, expecting the image to turn normal like last time. Instead, it just flickered and stayed a haunting red. Again, Bee hit the old TV, but all she got was an aching fist.
“Please stop hitting the TV” Squirrel muttered “if there really is a ghost in there, it won’t be happy with you”. Bee’s response was to hit the TV a few more times “I don’t get it. Last time this worked” she muttered confused. Having enough of the confusing TV she kicked a random shoe into a heap of bags in the corner of the room. The bags fell down and revealed Bee’s long lost Transformers shoe. Her eyes turned big at the sight of it. “I bet the ghost hid it there!” She exclaimed, while pointing an accusing finger at the TV. “stop it! You’re scaring me!” Squirrel yelled at Bee. Bee just smirked in response.
“Not my problem ghosts are real”
And until this day Squirrel still believes in ghosts and is very scared of them…
