And no one else.
That’s it. I’m quitting life. My life is falling apart. Again.
You need to understand that this happens to me on a daily basis. I get a poor grade on a test, and my self-esteem stoops lower than the sea level of Death Valley. I guess you’re supposed to get good grades and shit, but there’s so much pressure on you do to do well. You hope for the best I guess. I don’t, however. I guess I’m different from you and the rest. Time for me to take the worst test of my life. Today I have a crazy hard test in US History. I don’t really care about the past, not like you and the rest of the public school system do. So let us go die as we take the worst test ever. It’s only 7:30, but the day will only get worse from here.
Hey, did you hear a ding? I heard a ding. Probably the phone. Holy shit, are you looking at what I’m looking at? No? Oh, sorry, let me turn the phone so you can see. It’s a text from a blocked number:
You cannot trust anyone. Escape while you still can.
Well what the fuck does that mean? Maybe it’s a prank, like that one we pulled on Kendra Holland in 6th grade, you know, the Bob’s Butts Be Gone Butt Cream one? Ah, the good old days. I guess it’s just a prank. We should go get breakfast, cause we have to leave for school, otherwise we’ll be late for our test.
We open the door, and there is the family, standing single-filed, each with a slight frown. Dad, Mom, John, and Ruth, all standing, staring us down.
You didn’t see anything strange this morning, did you? Mom asked.
Wait, what?
No, we looked at each other, not at all, is something wrong? I replied to her.
No, not at all. She replied.
Okay, this is weird, I guess. First you got that text, then Mom asked whethering was strange. There is a sound behind you. It’s Dad, Mom, John and Ruth again.
I’m going to ask again. You didn’t see anything strange this morning, did you? Mom asked.
No, Mom. Nothing of the sort. You reply.
You need to leave now, something’s wrong and that text was right.
Mom, I’m going to school. You say.
She smiles, of course sweetie, good luck getting to school.
HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON! Is this like a scheme or something? We need to run, run far, far away.
We’re walking, away from the school, away from home as far as possible. We stop. We stop in a place that’s just you and me. Just you and me. Just you and me. Just you and me. Just you and me. Just you and me...
You cannot trust anyone. And that includes me.
