"Our little, stupid conversation means more to me than you think."
Chapter 1
I was staring at the woman in the mirror with a bright sunshine smile, I could not believe that beautiful woman was me. I have worn this beautiful white gown with silver leaf style tiara, today is my big day in my life I mean it’s the big day for all the women. Yes, today is my wedding day and I am going to be soon Mrs Mathus. I am going to marry one of the wealthiest businessmen in America.
I met him about a year ago when his parents, as well as himself, showed up at my parent's house during my parent’s wedding anniversary. That is when my parents and he dropped a huge bomb about our arranged marriage.
My father and his father have been best friends since their high school days. He was born 4 years before I was born, but when my parents found out that they were having a baby girl well that is me, they were excited and the news spread to our relatives as well as Mathus. Well, when one day our mothers came up with the crazy idea and our fathers agreed with them. That is how they made a crazy promise to set up our arranged marriage before I was born.
I had just turned 21 two months ago and now, I am getting married to the most handsome man in the world, maybe I exaggerated a little bit too much. Yes, he is one of the handsome business tycoons in America. Frankly, to say I was upset at the start when our parents told us about the marriage and the promise. Because I will have to sacrifice my studies and work for a year or two, I just got graduated. My whole life was based on studying and extracurricular activities. I guess maybe I need a break and a little fun in my life.
Like every other woman, I also didn’t want to rush into marriage and wanted to know the man with whom I was going to spend the rest of my life. I was enchanted by his big green eyes and lovely pearly white smile. I know, like others, they notice the first face of the person, but in my case, I notice his eyes, were enchanting and I was enchanted. I proudly can say, He is my first love as well as my first crush.
My heart was torn apart into two pieces. When I found out 6 months ago that he has been seeing a girl for a long time her name is Karen Smith. They hated me to ruin their chances and plans of getting married. Whenever we were alone, he ignores me, calls names, told me things that were not true and hated my guts. Of course, he treated me like a princess in front of our parents and relatives.
I had no choice since my parent had made a promise. His parents loved me as their daughter, not like a daughter-in-law. I just cannot see them heartbroken I love them just like I love my parents, I can’t just see them in that heartbroken state. I wish sometimes he would give me chances to show him that I am better than that woman. So, trying not to give up my hope I made a mission to make him fall in love with me.
There was a knock on the door which broke my chain of thoughts. I put on my fake sunshine smile I know that it’s not my bright sunshine smile but for them, I will.
“Come in!” my mom and dad walked in with their lovely smile on their face. “Oh Daisy, you can see our daughter is turning into a beautiful woman. I am so proud of you” my father said with his fake hurt expression and then he hugged me tightly. “Yes Dominic, our daughter from a baby girl has turned into a beautiful woman, I wish we could go back in the time when our daughter was a small girl,” my mother said with her tear-filled eyes.
“Thank you, mommy and daddy, I may have grown into a woman, but I will always be your little girl. I love you both”
“Oh sweetie, please do not cry, it’s your big day and always remember we both love you too no matter what” I did not realize I was so near to cry. As my dad told me, my mom came near us and hugged us both.
Again, a knock was heard, we turned towards the direction of the door. As my future in-laws were standing over there.
“Come in! Lily, Xavier” As my mom said. Mrs Mathus came in following her husband. “Oh, Xavier! Look how beautiful our daughter-in-law is!”
“No Lily, she is not our daughter-in-law” her husband paused, I got scared I felt like my heart stop beating, my parents, as well as Mrs Mathus, froze on the spot.
“But our daughter. Our son is a lucky idiot to have you as his wife. You look breathtakingly beautiful” My parents were laughing and Mrs Mathus playfully hit her husband on his back with her sweet smile. I knew that I am not the women his son wants to marry on this big day, but for them, I will do it, I put on a smile on my face.
"Thank you, Mr Mathus and Mrs Mathus. You both are amazing, I am very lucky to have you as my in-law”
"Oh please, sweetie. Call us mom and dad you are going to be a part of our family," she said as she came towards me and hugged me "Of course, mom"
"Excuse me guys do not make the bride all emotional now only and guys the ceremony is about to start in 25 minutes from now," My wedding planner and my best friend Violet said, at the doorways.
My mother, my brother who held in his left hand, his 5 years old son, in his other hand, his 3-year-old daughter and my soon to be in-laws took their seats in the front row, not before wishing me good luck.
"Are you ready honey?" my dad asked to gently take my hand in his hand. I took a deep breath and linked my arm with his.
"Yes dad, please... Daddy don't let me fall!" as I told my dad. "Never honey," I knew very well what he means, but I tried not to let my emotion out.
The music started and the doors were opened. I feared as I walked towards the man knowing that the man I love, he doesn't love me back the same way and all eyes that were on me, watch me walking with my father towards the altar. I was well prepared that there is no turning back now.
I guess this is where my new life and my new beginning starts.
