Chapter 1

jimin ran his clammy fingers through his hair, his muscular arms tensing in frustration. he was’t used to this human body. all day the brown-haired man had stalked the boy-- could you really call him a boy? those abs that bulged underneath his tight black shirt said otherwise. he had in fact been following the younger’s routine for at least a week now, enough time to collect the intel he required.

the two were sat at opposite sides of the café, however the boy remained unaware of the demon analysing him. at his table, a few plates were laid out, the majority already being empty. his caramel macchiato hair was slightly parted in the middle and stopped just before his thick brows. he had eyes that became entrancing when they caught a beam of light which complimented the luscious lips he bit too often. the clothing he wore was simple; aside from the aforementioned black shirt, his toned legs were hugged by ripped blue jeans and his fairly large feet covered by brown boots decorated with a tree emblem.

he had a label of sorts, a name? jeon jeongguk was what jimin remembered it being, after observing a small plastic card with the same word engraved as well as random numbers too. when the... jeongguk purchased resources he always seemed to use it instead of physical currency. it was similar to the customs in hell. jimin’s superiors had given him a name which he responded to when it was mentioned. it was just his luck his name didn’t appear to be too unusual in the city of seoul, so if anyone ever asked for it, he would have no problem giving it to them.

the demon became even more restless having to watch him consume what mortals call food. surely the boy didn’t like it? nevertheless, humans did need some form of energy to keep their hearts beating. damn, he sure ate a lot, though. humans usually ate with a companion of sorts, usually more than one. but jeongguk seemed to be alone through out this ritual for the whole week.

sure, jimin had learned about the lives of modern era humans on earth, but only the essentials. he knew they possessed names, family, employment of sorts, and houses, along with other details his superiors had mentioned to him. but it was all just so confusing. no-one had warned the demon about these glowing rectangles people were addicted to, or colourful automobiles on the streets. phones and cars. how strange are these mortals?

“erm, hello, i said, do i know you?“a startled squeal left the demon’s mouth as his gaze rose from the wooden floor to the man towering over him. his voice-- jimin stopped thinking entirely when recognition kicked in.

“n-no, jeon jeongguk, you do not know me, but I have become q-quite familiar with you,” this strange foreign emotion took hold of the demon, causing his breath to quicken and his fingers to knot themselves together underneath the table. despite all efforts, the wall of determination and fearlessness the elder had put up in advance crumbled just at the sight of jeongguk up close. he had a distinct scent unlike anything else on the earth realm; every time the demon inhaled, he could feel his masculinity fading away.

“what the fuck do you mean?” a few heads turned at the two men. “you better start explaining how you know my name, and why you’ve been staring at me for, like, the past hour!” surprised at the human’s actions, the elder shrunk into his chair. jeongguk’s shadow stopped jimin’s human breath. “hey, are you gonna talk or what?” the male persisted.

now, you may be confused, so let me help you out. yes, jimin is a demon, so yes, he does have supernatural abilities. any other day he could have just controlled jeongguk’s emotions in order to help him calm down, or inflict fear into him, certainly. there was... a catch, however. said powers would become non-existent and human emotions would consume him if he felt... physical attraction. seems weird right? a demon isn’t a physical entity, which is why jimin had to alter his form to be on earth. being a human has its perks, doesn’t it? anyway, let me continue.

“let’s talk outside,” the demon’s timid voice barely escaped his trembling lips. astonishingly enough, the younger nodded in agreement, locking his hand around jimin’s pale wrist and harshly guiding him outside the café.

no-one surrounded the two in the desolate alleyway. jungkook hastily pinned the small man against a wall, causing the elder to let out a vulnerable squeak. how he longed for his powers.

jeongguk’s breaths were so close that they fanned on jimin’s neck, leaving a tingling sensation. maybe it was just cold out. that’s why his hot breath felt like that. yeah, jimin, keep telling yourself that.
