Summary

"Adalynn," he said, shaking his head, "You can't love a monster like me." He finished, before walking away, leaving me standing there in the rain. What does he mean a 'monster'? ▬▬▬ ∞ ▬▬▬ Lazarus was exactly the person to stay away from, Adalynn knew that. She could sense something about him, something that wasn't exactly right. But then again, he was irresistible. He just lured her in no matter what. Trouble may always be lurking around Lazarus but that never frightened her, until she found out who was causing it. How could someone be so discreet?

I

“I ran through the dark empty halls of the school, passing the lockers to find a safe room to hide in. I stopped in front of the science labs thinking it would be easy to hide in there. I was so frightened that I hadn’t noticed my breathing was so heavy, I knew he would find me if I didn’t calm myself down. I crouched behind a table, making sure if there was someone standing at the door, they wouldn’t see me. I looked around trying to find something to defend myself with but I couldn’t see anything. The equipment is put away after every class. It was almost pitch black, thankfully the light from the moon helped my eyes adjust.”

I paused, thinking about what truly could have happened if I wasn’t careful.

“I froze as soon as I heard the footsteps getting louder from down the hall. I was afraid and anxious about what was going to happen next. I had horrible thoughts. Was he going to kill me? Would this really be my last day alive? During my awful thoughts, his footsteps stopped. I thought he had finally gone or maybe he was right around the corner. I checked around the room, looking for him but I realised he was gone.

“I stood slowly, making sure not to make any noise just in case he was still in the room. After all, it was extremely dark. I ran out of the room, and I stupidly turned around to look if he was there, and he was. But I ran before he caught me and came straight to you.”

Sitting there in the police office, made me realise how lucky I was to survive tonight. That surely could’ve been my last day alive. The officers continued to drink their coffee and stare at each other. My eyebrows narrowed and I scoffed, becoming impatient. Their office was quite messy with papers scattered around the floor and some on the desk. Looking back up at them to see that they still haven’t replied, I debated leaving but I knew this was a serious matter.

“Well, firstly, what’s your name?” The officer with the moustache asked.

“Adalynn Kingsley. Can I know your names please?”

“Sure, I am Officer Jaylen and this is Officer Smith.” The lady smiled with a sweet, understanding smile. She sure did not understand what I just went through.

“Ah okay, well Adalynn is it alright that we hear this story from the beginning, right where and when you met this boy? All the details please.”

“Okay, oh boy where do I start? This is a long story.”

I took a deep breath as I began speaking about the story, right from the start.
