Summary

I was once told that was destined for a special path. One that is littered with glory and fame. But at what price, what are the costs? Only the gods above would tell. "Ready and... GO" she shouted in excitement, as the beautiful black beast lifted its enormous midnight wings and began to soar towards the sky. With each beat matching the pace of her heart, she then looked down seeing the the glow of the castle began to dim as she flew higher and higher. Smiling she chanted and screamed "HIGHER", The dragon snorted in replay as it began to fly high into the night sky. She chuckled, then unhooked the cord that held her to the dragons harness and with that let go letting herself fall back to the castle. She closed her eyes listening to the whistling of air as she dropped faster and faster noticing also the glow of light rapidly growing brighter.

Chapter 1

THE sun brightly shined on her face as she awoke from her dreamless sleep. She rose from her silk bed, walked over to the balcony door and swung them open. Looking out into the courtyard of her home she sighed, ‘Its to early for lessons’ she thought. Couple minutes after the thought had past a knock came from the door a heavy voice spoke, “Princess your father would like to see you in the throne room”. She didn’t answer, she didn’t have to because if she did her childish side would come out and demand the guard to tell her father to ‘fuck off’. But of course she would be punished so she walked sluggishly to her bathroom and began to get ready.

After 30 minutes and she finally was ready before leaving though she looked at her room with a weak smile wishing she could never leave, wishing for that dreamless sleep again but knew her father would send Reem to come for her if she took any more time. With a heavy sigh and one last look she closed her door and walked down the corridor. She slowly walked looking at the designs and patterns of her home admiring them knowing if she was a simple townsmen she would be speechless. But of course she had lived here all her life so she was used to it. Though she still admired the design of the corridor. Continuing to walk, she turned the corner and stopped. Seeing the large crimson door always sent shivers down her spine. She despied the door; it wasn’t a simple red but a crimson blood.

Knowing her father wasn’t pure, she knew in his past he ruled with no mercy. Not only them the rest of her fathers counsel. She didnt detest them but there children she grew up with were quite unbearable, well most of them. She finally moved closer, stopping infront of the door. Waiting a moment as the guards bowed and opened the door till they fully showed everyone arguing once again.

Everyday it was the same, half the counsel was arguing with the other while the teens her age off to the side bickering. Beginning to think she should have skipped and to her punishment. Sadly before changing her mind, her eyes locked on deep blue hues. The minute they notice her walk in, she stiffened. Only a look he could turn her into a mess. Her teachers always said ‘the first place you must show your power is your gaze’ and with her father it couldn’t be more true. It was becoming hard to swallow, as she walked closer and with each step everyone began to quiet down and stared at her. Next to father was her mother, whos eyes were softer, filled with much more warmth and love. Finally getting to her place which was odd at first glance if not being there itd be just a plush pillow placed between the two thrones.

Reaching the pillow and sitting with her legs crossed, eyes closed so she wouldnt have to see from the corner her fathers intense gaze on her. She still felt it as they began talking about things she never cared for. Opening her eye only to look out the window to stare mindlessly out the windows till she had heard the voice of General Kirels yell “How dare you piece of shit”. Turning her head to see his face red from anger while holding my master Usgi by the collar. Usgi was quite calm, tranquil, if to describe him he’d be a stag such a calming animal but powerful when angered.Never had she seen him lose his calm before even when Kirels riled him.

Usgi after a few moment said smoothly ” Your daughter deserved it, having no right treating my daughter the way she did”.

By that she knew what the “conversation” what the was about. Kirel’s daughter, Mariana, had hated Cimera for some reason. Since childern she would pick on Cimera almost getting her killed at some points. Giving no indication on the reasons why for this hatered most people tried to stay on Mairena’s good side. Enough of the two men fight her father let out an irritated sigh before he stood, with that both shut up. With a his dangerous glare, and commanding voice he began “Enough both of you. I am done hearing this childish banter, we will continue the meeting once everyone’s calm and leveled headed. Dismissed” And with that everyone bowed and lefted without another word. Thought two of the teens lingered a bit longer , smiling and waving at her before leaving. She smiled to herself knowing that she’d catch up with them both later, tackling them with a hug. Her father sat and stayed silent for a moment then spoke with a stern tone, “And why were we late again Tamara”.

Flinching at her name, Tamara didn’t look at him, just stared at the door with a blank stare.

“I overslept Father,” she said, still not meeting her fathers gaze which was undoubtedly on her, she spoke with a quiet tone afraid of her voice slipping. He didn’t speak for a couple minute, just stared at her midnight black hair in disbelief.

“You overslept , you overslept, Tamara its amazes me that you think of me as an idiot”. She flinched once again as he stood abruptly and began to walk away from the throne towards the entrance. The doors opened and slammed shut. Tamara let out a breath she didnt realize she had been holding for so long. She began to feel guilty but then a hand stroked her hair and soothed some of that guilt inside.

“Tamara give him time you know that he’s just stressed”, softly her mother spoke before leaving her alone in the throne room with the sun brightly shining on her and nothing but her thoughts to keep her entertained.
