Chapter 1
Chapter 1
My body slams into the wall. Blood trickles down my nose. My vision is lost. My sanity tearing away from me. I couldn’t feel anything. Hands wrap around my throat. I gasp for air, flailing like a rat trapped in a mouse trap. My neck burned from the two hands wrapped around my throat.. There was no point fighting it. I stopped struggling. There was no more hope. Ice. That’s what it felt like. The feeling of being killed running through my body. Darkness consumed me.
I felt numb.
No feeling.
Is this death?
Is there an afterlife?
Or just darkness?
I quickly got up and looked around. Nothing but grass. I realized that I was in a field. I looked at myself. I was wearing a tattered shirt with a patch that read, “ SLAVE-12489” I started walking, not knowing where to. Suddenly, the field started flickering. Then, it turned into a pit of hell. Burning buildings, screams, bombs exploding near me. I started running as fast as I could. Back to the plains.
“What is going on?” I whispered. I was on edge. I realized that I was chained to the ground. I lost consciousness. I woke in a hospital. I was strapped down on a stretcher. Two doctors were on the floor bleeding. The door opened and a man came in wearing all black with a sinister grin from ear to ear. He pulled out a syringe from his pocket and injected me with it. I blacked out. The plains were back. The chains snapped and so I started running. As soon as I started running shots rang out. They skidded past me and dug into the ground. A shot struck my leg and I collapsed. I felt a rumble in the ground. The shots stopped. Pain swallowing my leg as I crawled forward. The ground started spitting apart. I forced myself to stand. I dug out the bullet from my leg with my finger. It was a rifle that shot me apparently. The pain wasn’t as bad anymore. I ripped a sleeve from the shirt and wrapped it around my leg. The ground shook so violently that I fell over. I got back up and ran. The sky started falling….LITERALLY. Glass fell out of the sky as I ran. Everything was falling apart. Seems like this was a fake field with a fake sky. Beyond the sky and ground was pure darkness. But that didn’t stop me from running. Shards of glass were like knives falling out of the sky. I grabbed a huge piece of glass and put it over my head to shield myself from the rain of knives. The ground was almost non-existent. The only ground left was platforms floating in the sky. I kept running until there was nowhere else to go. I started jumping on floating rocks to get away from smaller ones tearing apart. I landed on a semi-large one and stayed there. There was no point in trying to escape. There was none. This word was falling apart. I just sat there, shielding myself from the falling shards. After about two minutes, everything that wasn’t land was darkness. I was floating on a rock, not knowing where the hell I was going. There was no more shards raining from the sky. Just silence. I sighed and stood up, throwing the piece of glass I used to shield myself with into the abyss. It wasn’t worth living like this. No noise, just the ringing in my ears.
“Last words? Nah. Damn it. Damn it all to hell.” I then stepped forward and fell into the darkness. I closed my eyes.
I give up.
None of this is worth not being free.
No hope.
Not now.
Not never.
