Chapter 1

Sophie had read the letter so many times she could recite every single word by heart. She sighed as she folded it nicely and placed it in the bottom drawer of the 3 tiered dresser in her new room of muted sandy walls. The string of pearls sat in its regal place hung around the neck of the wooden frame of her new dresser, they shook as Sophie pushed the drawer deep into its shelf. Just like the furniture that came with the room she was in
there were some adjustments with how things functioned in her new environment.
Saved by the song on her IPod, she stood with her back against the wall with hands outstretched with toes as pillars against the cold tiled floor. Like a silhouette she moved side to side following the rhythm of the drum in a song. Right foot forward before she twirled with the end of her skirt shadowing her hips. She pressed her face into an empty space while her arms flailing as if separating themselves from her body. She danced until the ceiling lights appeared like stars from afar.

The next morning Sophie woke up with a throbbing head and a grumbling stomach and she was coughing incessantly when a soft knock on the door brought her to her feet.
The voice behind the door was calling her name, a sound that was comfort to her ears. As she swung the door open, she wondered if she'd done the right thing by awakening the sleeping giants from her past.
