The Vampire's Gem

The night is filled with their shadows

Creatures of unspeakable horror

They feed on their victims blood

They are cruel and they are fierce

With eyes as cold as the night

Vampires rule with an iron fist

I run fast with it clenched in my fist

A gem as dark as the shadows

I could barely see it in the night

All I could think were thoughts of horror

The branches hitting my face were fierce

Scratching my skin and drawing blood

Now covered by my own blood

I slow down and open my fist

Vampires, growing closer, are fierce

My body was hidden in the shadows

But it did nothing to hide my horror

All I could do was hide in the night

I continued to hide in the night

I knew they could smell my blood

Watching them run past me filled me with horror

To keep from screaming, I bit my fist

I knew I had to keep to the shadows

My thoughts turned fierce

To keep from falling, my feet were fierce

I ran so fast through that night

Remembering to keep to the shadows

All I could hear was the pounding of my blood

I felt it still clenched in my fist

I could no longer feel the horror

With a plan in my head, I felt no horror

My successful smile turned fierce

I shifted the black gem to my other fist

I continued to run through the night

With my speed, they might smell my blood

Even if I was hiding in the shadows

My fierce thoughts were filled with shadows

Without horror, there was no fear in my blood

With the gem in my fist, I continued home though the night
