Chapter 1. I Don't Bite... Much
“Bartender! Drinks on me for everyone! My treat!” A male, who looked to be in his early twenties, screamed. He was clearly intoxicated and held the glass filled with Bourbon up high in the air. The whole bar let out a loud cheer that roared throughout the whole building. This caused the young male to smirk, before sitting back down on the stool, looking back at his young companion with a drunken grin.
“Drink up Jake!” he urged, before taking another swing at the burning liquid. His friend Jacob shot him a look that was filled with both embarrassment and anger. He was rather tall, slim, and had milky skin that made his sea blue eyes stand out.
“What are you doing Tyler? We’re supposed to keep a low profile!” Jake hissed. The drunken boy named Tyler sucked his teeth and chuckled,
“Relax Buzz Kill Tom,” Tyler slurred. “I’m not even that drank-d-drink... drunk.”
“Dude you’re wasted.” Jake sighed shaking his head. Worry started to well up inside of him, as he began to fear his friend screwing up the mission they were sent on.
“Relax.” Tyler stated with more confidence in his voice, before nodding at the bartender for another round. His brown eyes watched in a daze as the amber liquid was poured into the glass filled with ice.
“The mission was to make sure that our territory wasn’t taken over by another pack.”
Jacob’s lips stayed shut for a long time and he watched in irritation, as his friend lifted the cup up to his lips and chug the liquid. It somewhat surprised him that Tyler was able to drink the alcohol so quickly.
“But, what if we run into the-” Jacob quickly cut his question short, and began to look around to see if anyone was listening to their conversation, before whispering so low, only their kind could here.
“The Hybrid?” A choking sound erupted from his friend, as he began choking on his favorite drink. What they didn’t know was that there was someone listening to their conversation. A girl, who sat a couple of seats away from them, was able to hear the question he asked. Her lips curled into a devious smile as she lifted her cup to her lips and took her last sip.
Soon after his coughing fit ended, Tyler began to laugh,
“Please,” he scoffed, as he shook his head.
“Think about it. There was a report of a sighting of a pack of Rogues.” Jacob argued back.
“That doesn’t mean that it’s the Hybrid.” Tyler laughed. “You’re just para- paranoid.”
“But what if it is him? If it’s true then we are in serious danger, he’ll kill us without any hesitation.”
“Jake, buddy.” Tyler groaned, setting down his glass. “The hybrid is just a myth to scare pups.”
“Oh really?” A new voice asked before letting out a cute giggle. The two boys turned their head towards the new voice, and their eyebrows rose in surprise. It was a girl, a very cute one. She had long brown hair that had highlights, that reached down to her mid back and her skin was lightly sun kissed. She was slender but still had some curves to her figure. But what stood out the most to the boys were her eyes. They were a deep forest green and seemed to put them in a daze. A sly smile reached to her lips, realizing she had caught the drunken one’s attention the most.
“Well hello there,” Tyler smirked, eyeing the girl up and down, almost as if he was memorizing her head to toe.
“Aren’t you a little young to be in here sweetheart?” Tyler questioned. The young girl didn’t answer. She just battered her big eyes ‘innocently’ and tilted her head to the side, allowing her devious smirk to appear. This confused the boys, greatly, but as soon as she took another step towards them, their smirk quickly dropped. Her scent... it wasn’t human.
Tyler instantly sobered up, and stood up quickly glaring at the girl. Jacob did the same. She smelled strange. She smelled like one of them, but at the same time she didn’t and that’s what was putting them on edge. But one thing they knew for sure... she was a rogue.
“What the hell are you?” Tyler demanded, but all the girl did was give them a lazy smirk, before turning towards the half emptied glass of Tyler’s drink, grabbing it.
“Such a harsh tone, for such a handsome face.” She smirked, before downing the rest of his drink.
“I never thought a couple of werewolves would come snooping around here again.” The mysterious girl gave the boys a playful look, but she noticed how their bodies began to shake and their eyes were now pitch black as a starless sky. Everything, their iris, pupil and sclera was pitch black. Of course this was normal for werewolves. They usually get like this out of anger, if they are about to shift or to show intimidation.
“You’re pretty brave Rogue.” Jacob snarled. “Confronting two wolves by yourself... Big mistake.”
“Who said that I came alone?” The rogue turned her head halfway, as if trying to tell them to look behind her. When they did, it was almost as if it was on cue, as three large males blocked all the exits in the bar.
“And don’t try to make a scene. Everyone in this bar has been ‘charmed’ to look the other way.” She warned, watching as the men’s eyebrows frown.
“You have a vampire doing your dirty work?” Jacob questioned. The girl’s eyes looked away from the two for a quick second and looked back at them chuckling.
“Something like that.” She remarked.
“This territory is ours.” Tyler said lowly, before an un-human growl erupted from his chest. The girl looked at the two wolves, unfazed. She wasn’t scared. No, instead she looked amused. Her green eyes held so much amusement, it pissed both the wolves off to no end.
“Oh really?” she scoffed. “Where is your Alpha?”
“He’s returning soon.” Jacob growled.
“So in other words he’s gone?” The rogue stated, trying to make her point. They didn’t reply which made her scoff and mumble ‘typical.’
“That doesn’t change anything. He left us in charge.” Jacob announced, but this made the girl laugh.
“You’re lying.” the girl stated bluntly. “Alphas only leave Betas in charge, and I could alreadly tell that neither of you are the Beta.” This shut the two up, but their glares seemed to harden.
“Now I’m going to give you two choices,” she started taking a seat on the bar stool that was by them. The rogue noticed how the wolves’ bodies seemed to tense up.
“Choice number one, you can stay here and join my pack.” She announced giving them a kind smile. “Or...” Her smile soon dropped and her voice became deadly.
“You get the hell out of my territory, or I’ll rip your hearts out right here, right now.” The boys remained quiet as they stared at the intimidating little girl, but the rogue only kept eye contact with the one named Tyler and he stared right back at her.
“Who is running your pack?” Tyler demanded, but this bold question surprised his pack member greatly. ‘Are you honestly considering her offer?!’ Tyler heard Jacob shout through their mind link.
‘I’ve got this under control.’ Tyler replied. The rogue smirked, at the handsome male before replying.
“You’re looking at her.” She chuckled. A frown appeared on her face as they both let out a scoff.
“Yeah right.” Jacob laughed bitterly.
“Well it’s true.” She admitted losing her patience. “Let’s start all over.”
She gave a smile that was anything but kind, and held out her hand.
“Hi my name is Grace Everstone... I’m the hybrid.”
Tyler looked at the rogue named Grace skeptically while Jacob on the other hand, stared at the young girl in fear. He didn’t understand how it was possible. All this time, he has been hearing stories about the vicious Hybrid that could rip out your spine if you ever double cross him. All this horrifying stories told about the Hybrid, only to find out that it’s actually a girl who looked to be around the age of 17.
An eyebrow rose from Jake once he saw her smirk and put her hand down. It was almost as if she read his mind, and was laughing at him quietly.
“Fine, have it your way,” Grace grumbled, finishing the rest of the drink, and hoping off the stool, giving the tense werewolves a sickly sweet smile.
“I call Bullshit.” Tyler growled crossing his arms across his chest. “The Hybrid is a myth. I bet you were just listening in on our conversation.”
“Tyler...” Jake warned, but Tyler didn’t back down and kept his hard stare on the so called Hybrid.
“I’m calling your bluff. Bite me.” Tyler spat. His companion’s jaw literally dropped, at Tyler’s words. He was playing on dangerous ground, and it could cost both of their lives. Grace stared back quietly at the confident man with a blank expression. Suddenly a crooked smile appeared on her face.
“Well, since you offered,” she retorted. The brown eyed male’s cockiness dropped into his stomach once he saw that she used her supernatural speed to appear in front of him. The next thing he knew, he was being thrown across the bar, his back hitting the wall with a loud THUD. The werewolf tried to get back on his feet but the girl was already in front of him. She picked him up by the neck and slammed him into the wall hard, causing a loud pained groan to leave his mouth.
Grace could feel the blood inside of rush up to her eyes as she allowed her eyes to change. Her eye color changed to this dark rusty gray, but had specks of a crimson red color. Grace allowed her fangs to slid out of her gums and flashed them to the wolf, who was trying to get out of her tight grasp, and gave him a loud hiss. The closer she got to his face, the more he struggled and tried to back his face away from the long fangs.
All Jacob could do was stand in fear and watch, not moving an inch. Even though he kept yelling at himself to move and go help his friend who was in trouble, he couldn’t.
After a while, Grace decided the wolf had enough, she released him watching as he scurried back to his terrified friend. Her eye color returned to their natural color, and her fangs had disappeared to how they originally were. Once Jacob tore his gaze from Tyler and saw that the Hybrid was staring at him, he quickly took a step back.
“Now that I have caught both of your attention,” Grace stated as she began to walk past the two wolves, who were still in shock.
“You both have 24 hours to reply . After your time is up you will meet back here and give me your answer. Oh and don’t try to run or hide.” Grace included. “I have rogues surrounding every inch of this town. So if you try to run, they will hunt you down, and kill you.”
Once Grace saw the fear in their eyes she felt she had made her point. She started to walk away from the bunch, but then stopped and chuckled turning her body to face them once more.
“Oh one more thing I forgot to mention.” Grace chuckled bitterly. “If you so much as warn your pack that I’m here, and they come looking for a fight...”
The hybrid looked in to Tyler’s eyes deeply. “Well, lets just try not to spill any more blood then needed, shall we?” With one last smirk, she twirled back around, her wavy hair swishing as she did, and made her way out the bar. Once her and her ‘minions’ were out of sight, Tyler and Jacob looked at each other with wary expressions.
“We are so screwed.” Jacob whispered, violently tugging the roots of his hair.
