Prologue

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil!” Slowly and reverent, Marco Jackson arose from his kneeling position that he had previously took in order to pay his respect to the Lord. He looked back throughout his darkened room, the silence of the late night had suddenly crept in making him fully realize that he truly was alone.

As Marco began to climb into his bed for rest his ears heightened to a familiar sound that suddenly filled the entire house, running water.

His heart was set off at high speed making him anxious and scared but more importantly it shattered his peace of mind that he wasn’t in the house by himself. His footsteps sounded off the walls as he made his way throughout the long hallway, he could not make heads or tails of what was going on but a man of his age had never known to be scared of much. He was bound to get to the bottom of this and reclaim the calmness inside his house.

His footsteps finally seized as he reached the main bathroom. In one quick motion he turned on the light and made his way toward the bathtub up against the wall. Marco’s eyes narrowed as he was greeted to the site of an almost overflowing tub, turning off the water his mind still raced at the thought that someone could be in the house.

He had little time to scan his brain for thoughts about this situation before he felt a set of hands force him down, his body soon slipped into the tub and submerged him in the water. Marco forced himself into an upright position, ready to see the face of his attacker.

The color had drained out of his face making him feel ill and unable to cope with character standing in the shadows who had been apparently watching him from afar. His heart skipped a few beats as his eyes narrowed trying to pierce the darkness and make verification about who this perpetrator was. As if being the victim of a home invasion was disturbing enough Marco’s eyes suddenly did a full scan of the persons hand which contained two items, in the left a bible, in the right a hairdryer.

“So it was true.” Marco began breathing heavily at the sight of his intruder. “You were coming after me next!”

Without warning the intruder swiftly tossed the bible into the tub where Marco sat. The book plopped open to a random page, Marco was soon greeted to the words that were scribbled in red ink on every page. God is dead.

Knowing what was to come Marco tried desperately to get out of his submerged state in the tub before the unthinkable happen. The intruder was quicker however placing the plug into the socket the hair dryer was thrown in Marco’s direction. Marco’s final vision was that of the Hairdryer plummeting into the deep as he sat there helplessly.

The intruder witnessed Marco’s final moments of life before creeping back into the darkness that is nighttime.
