Chapter 1
i never, not once, knew what love felt like until i met him and even then, i wouldn’t call what we had love. just a sort of strong infatuation. not even my own parents showed me the compassion a young child needs. they were always too detached towards me with their whole world always revolved around them.
them.
them.
them.
none of this was supposed to be about them. none. it was just background information, but somehow it always comes back to that. because it hurts, knowing your parents don’t love you and cherish you when you see happy families all around you. you become jealous. jealousy isn’t a good emotion to grow up with. being jealous of everything and everyone around you gets you nowhere in life. it just turns you into a despondent asshole.
that’s how he and i met, you know? he was the new kid, cliche i know, and he bumped into me. i was never one to be kind, growing up the way i did, so i grumbled something rude along the lines of, “watch where you’re going, shorty.” in a gruff, nasty tone, because in all honesty, he was short, shorter than me unsurprisingly.
he wasn’t amused with the way i treated him and everyone else for that matter, so every day he kept trying to show me the better things in life. pressuring me into seeing light in my empty void of despair and it worked, too, because soon enough my resolve crumbled and i let him in.
i, slowly but surely, let him in. and my walls came crashing down. i’d like to think that we crossed paths for the better, but that’s not the truth because when he left, i was devastated. it was like being shown the world in brighter, more fluctuating colours and then having them being drained from your eyes as you watch helplessly.
our love story wasn’t anything extravagant, but it wasn’t ordinary. it was told in colours of black and white and we were the grey. he was a hurricane and i was the tornado and now that i’m left with the aftermath of the storm, i have only one thing to say.
josh dun, even after all this time, i still love you. even if i can’t physically tell you, i hope this letter will suffice.
goodbye, my hurricane josh dun.
sincerely, your tornado tyler joseph.
