Introduction
It isn’t every day that you find yourself waking up and realizing “Hey, I’m a mean girl.” In fact, often times you may not even realize it at all. Or, maybe you do, and you don’t care. If you are the latter, maybe this book isn’t for you. I’m not saying that to be mean, I’m just saying... “Don’t you look cute in that dress...I didn’t think you could pull off the 80′s look.”
Being a mean girl isn’t as easy as you might think. It takes a lot of effort to make sure that you feel the way you present yourself. For me, I presented myself as well put together with no baggage whatsoever. I was who you wanted to become. I hung out with the people you wanted to hang out with, and I was cute.
My clothes weren’t as fancy as those I associated with because let’s face it, I was poor. However, what I lacked in clothing options, I made up for in personality. My crew and I were the perfect balance of attractiveness, confidence, wealth, and talent. I didn’t have wealth, but I had the others, and I had enough of the other stuff to get away with it.
I could make sure people like you didn’t make their way into our circle, and I was very good at it. Did you want to sit with us? No thank you. Did you want to talk to one of us? Sorry, no can do. You tried to collaborate on a school project? I.Don’t.Think.So...nothing personal. It’s just, look at you and look at me? Do you really belong here?
That’s the age-old question, isn’t it? Do you really belong here? What does that even mean anyway? Of course, you belong here...right? Society has and will always be divided. What did I just say? How dare I speak in absolutes like that? Nothing is “always.” Sure, that’s true perhaps.
What I am saying, and don’t take this wrong, is that people like to surround themselves with people that are “like” them. Where there is ‘like’ there is always the opposite, and that is why this society will still be divided. The potential to change exists. Everything is possible, but you can only change yourself so how about focusing on you for now.
You might be wondering why I’m telling you this. If you are patient, I will explain. In order to tell you, I have to share some dark stuff. You might not want to hear it. If you don’t, that’s alright, I don’t really care. I’m a mean girl after all.
If you are interested in finding out how a person becomes “mean” than don’t go anywhere. I can promise you that I’ve included juicy bits of information. Of course, the names have been changed to protect their identities so no whining that you can’t locate these people. Trust me, it is better this way. If I haven’t scared you off yet...well done.
