Chapter 1
Outcast
I spat out the dirt that had entered my mouth when Aaron had pushed me to the ground for talking to my ‘friend’. Mike being the only friend I had put it on himself to protect me from people like Aaron so without a second thought, he threw himself unto Aaron, effectively knocking him down but Aaron got angry and attacked Mike. I tried helping Mike but his friends stopped my actions with a kick to my jaw
I spat the blood that had pooled in my mouth from mistakenly biting my cheek and looked at Aaron with tears in my eyes, hoping that he would leave me and Mike alone. A strange emotion flashed in his eyes but before I could figure what it was, it vanished as quick as it came and I watched as he walked away, giving a hard stomp on Mike’s stomach as his friends left me bruised, beaten and crying as Mike tried his best to breathe
Later…
The walk home was quiet but it seemed like Mike had wanted to say something but when I looked into his eyes, his hardened face immediately softened as he let out a frustrated sigh. Mike had suddenly stopped walking as his entire body tensed up, indicating that we had reached my house
I gave him a small smile and limped up the stairs that led to the door, I placed my hand on the handle, pushed it open and was immediately surrounded by silence. Mike pushed me behind him gently and walked inside the dark house, trying to protect me from what wasn’t there but before I knew it, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist and drag me into the darkness
Few hours later…
I tried squinting my eyes to see if I was able to make out familiar objects in the room, but it did nothing to help. I tensed as I heard a sound come from the darkest part of the room, I focused solely on that area and almost let out a scream when I felt metal glide down my arm. The metal was pressed harder against my flesh until it slowly ripped through my skin, a yelp escaped my lips as I felt the metal push deeper
I tried moving around but the friction between my arms and the chains around my arms caused more injuries to follow. A low chuckle was heard beside my ear as the lights suddenly came on
I squinted my eyes at the sudden brightness and the first thing I had seen were 2 pairs of hate-filled-eyes while 1 pair was filled with concern and worry but what really got my attention was the weapon in my oldest brother’s hands. It was the diamond encrusted knife my mom had given me before my father had killed her right in front of me. My oldest brother (Jeremy) laughed once he saw the fear in my eyes and slowly walked towards me, circling me like I was his prey. He pressed the knife on my cheek and without any warning, sliced my once fresh skin, he kept on doing that until he noticed I was about passing out
My scream echoing in the room brought a smile to my father’s face as he walked up to receive his own turn. Like Jerimiah, he circled me until he came behind me but he freed my chains, pushing me to the ground and bending down to my level, he looked at me with hatred in his eyes and landed a swift kick to my sides
All the air was stolen from my lungs, leaving me choking on my own spit. My family looked at me like the pathetic thing I was and before I knew it, something hard collided with my face, effectively knocking me out, my other brother’s voice turning fainter by the minute
Next day…
I walked stiffly to school, hoping to not cause any more pain on my damaged body and hated how I felt vulnerable without Mike by my side. I began to feel like I was being watched and my theories were proven right when I felt a hand drag me into a secluded area
Fear was the only thing I felt when I realized this was how I was going to go, the person let his face show in the light and I was greeted with blueish-grey eyes, blond hair, pink lips and pearly white teeth
I stared at Aaron’s eyes while he stared at my lips, my tongue darting out to lick my dry lips as he pupils dilated at the action. He closed his eyes and leaned forward, not even knowing when I started leaning in as well, his cool breath fanned my cheek before he whispered into my ear
“You will always be a freak and nothing else”
He pushed me to the ground and laughed as he walked away leaving me embarrassed and teary. My choked sobs being the only thing that brought me comfort, strong arms wrapped around me and I immediately knew who it was. I pushed Mike of me and stood up, ignoring his calls for me as I walked to school like I have always been; a shell of my former self
School…
Mike and Aaron were no where to be seen, people taunted and laughed at what happened earlier and I was sure Aaron had bragged to the whole school about how the ugly duckling fell for the swan’s charms. A paper was thrown at my head and landed on my desk, my history teacher paying no notice
I squinted my eyes as I read the disfigured handwriting on the creased paper
Dear freak, what happened earlier was amazing and I can’t believe you thought my good buddy Aaron would want to kiss trash like you. Anyways I just wanted to tell you that you would do us a big favor if you just die already and meet that thing you call your mom in hell- with lots of ‘love’, Freddy
My hands were shaking with each word I read, my tears staining the paper as my urges came back to me. I stood up and ran to the bathroom, ignoring both the laughs and my teacher’s uncaring tone as he called my name
Once I made it to the bathroom, I looked at my reflection and pointed out every flaw I had on me
My eyes
My nose
My freckles
My lips
My skin
My hair
My ears
My everything
My eyes began watering and I cursed myself for crying all the time. I brought my nails to my slit wrists and re-opened the barely healed wounds, the feeling of my blood flowing out brought me the safety I desperately needed. My vision got blurry as black dots began to creep into my sight, my legs swayed when the loss of blood began to take a toll on me
Just as I was about to fall, the door was swung open and someone rushed in in a panicked state. I hit the ground and looked up at the dark figure looming over me, I felt strong hands grip my shoulders and shake me, trying to keep me awake but I was already too far gone
I smiled as I looked up at the figure and whispered as the darkness engulfed me
“You’re too late”
