(Yoongi’s POV)
I’ve always been different. When I was a child I used to love being in the kitchen. The smell of food making my mouth water. The taste was even better.
My mother used to tell me I had a great sense of smell. I was able to smell what was inside of the food without needing to see the recipe.
What they didn’t know was that I was able to smell much more than just simple things.
I could tell the difference between a person by their unique smell.
You see every person on this planet has a scent. Every scent is unique. There’s no two people that have the same smell.
I started to memorize people not by their names but by their smell. Not only was I able to do that but I was able to do someone much more extraordinary.
I was able to smell Someone’s feelings.
I didn’t know I could do that myself until one day my uncle came to visit us. This was when I was 8 years old and my uncle was coming to visit me and my mother. He was going to introduce us to his fiance. The women he was going to marry.
-FLASHBACK BEGINS-
The moment the scent of my uncle hit my nose i ran down stairs. He turned to look at me, he opened his arms and i jumped in them.
“uncle!!!” i screamed in overjoy. My mother came out of the kitchen smiling. I looked beside me and saw a tall women with short hair. i tilted my head in curiosity at the new person in the room.
“Hey bud this is Jisoo, my fiance. Were gonna get married. She’s gonna be your new auntie.” my uncle says as he points at the women next to him. I look up as me and the women make eye contact. She smiles at me and places her hand on top of my head. I quickly take a sniff. She smelled like lemon with a tint of pine trees.
I turned to look at my uncle once again “why are you getting married uncle?” i asked in curiosity. He knelt down in front of me and smiled, placing his hands on my shoulders.
“were getting married because i love her and she loves me” the moment he said that a strong smell came to my nose. The smell was gross, it smelled like trash and anything rotten put together. I quickly covered my nose. The smell didn’t go away even when i covered my nose.
“uncle i thought you liked your friend, that women you brought the other time?” my mother quickly told me to be quiet that i was being rude. My uncle smiled, he looked like he was forcing that smile. “yoongi you’re mistaken i love jisoo, the other woman was just a friend.”
The smell got worse my the second. Then it instantly clicked.
He was lying. And the smell was the evidence.
I shook my head, not believing anything he was saying. “NO NO YOUR LYING! WHY ARE YOU LYING UNCLE! WHY?!” My mother kept telling me to be quite, she kept telling the women that she was sorry and that i was just a child. That i didn’t know what i was saying.
My uncle didn’t know what to say, he just stood up and looked at my mother. Telling her that he had somewhere to go. He grabbed the women’s wrist pulling her with him. He turned around to look at me once more and left. The door closing right behind him.
The smell of trash left the moment he left as well. I knew he was lying, the smell proved it to me.
-FLASHBACK ENDS-
Ever since then i knew when someone was lying to me, when they were anxious, when they were overly happy, or sad, or when someone loved someone else as well as liking them too.
My mother was the only one who knew about this. I didn’t know why i was able to do this. Neither did my mother. She thought it was a gift from god, but i saw it as a curse.
