I
That hurt like a binch
Have you ever just stopped and thought about how a major event could or did affect your future? Actually, I’m thinking about it right now, as I stare outside the window of Laurie’s car. I wonder if I’ll miss the tall buildings that towered over New York City, which now are replaced by trees that stretch over a large plain, my new home. Australia.
“So honey, I don’t know whether your mum ever told you, which she mightn’t of, and don’t freak out... but I have thirteen boys living in my house.” Laurie said to me, a nervous smile on her lips.
All I could manage to get out was, “huh?”
“I live with thirteen boys, well they live with me but you know.”
It didn’t really process it at first but the more I thought about it the more I started to freak out. “You have thirteen boys living with you! I’m going to die.” I said raising my voice due to my current status of: shit what am I going to do, I’m living with thirteen guys.
“Look honey, you’ll get used to them and they’ll get used to you. It’ll all be fine after a while.” She tried to comfort me and although I wanted to cry or scream or do something I couldn’t help but feel guilty because it probably seemed like I was lashing out and I shouldn’t because she had an extra person she had to feed and pay for.
“Sorry, I wasn’t lashing out if that’s what you thought, I just freaked out. Do the thirteen boys include Micheal?” I asked her nicely.
“No, he’s an extra one. Sorry you didn’t know about this before.”
“Okay, so you have thirteen boys and Micheal living with you?”
“Yep” She said to me with a smile on her face. “They are very nice, some of them just take some time to warm up to people that’s all.” She said to me.
All I could get out for now was a simple, “Okay” considering I was experiencing some jet lag and this new information just made me a little bit more exhausted, causing me to fall asleep.
“Annalise, honey. We are here, I’ll help you take your stuff up stairs.” Laurie said, gently shaking me.
I opened my eyes slowly and sat there for a minute, so I could wake up fully. “No it’s okay I can take them up.”
Laurie just laughed, “You’ll need some help, there are some stairs and it’s pretty big so you might get tired walking around.”
I turned my face away from her to look out the window to see the house and my jaw dropped. Holy shit. It was a mansion, a big, white mansion on a hill looking over Sydney. Neatly trimmed grass stretched from the long gravel driveway all the way to the outside of the house. Trimmed hedges towered up the building, and little areas of the front yard were taken up by groups of palm trees. Where the two sections of the mansion don’t join there is a pool that looks about twenty metres long. I couldn’t see any further than that as the big, white walls expanded so greatly across the piece of land.
“Here I’ll take these bags and you can take the rest.” Laurie said as she lugged about six bags around to my door so I could hear her.
“Are you sure? I can take them it might just take me a few trips.” I asked feeling guilty she was taking my bags for me.
“No, no we’ll just get it over and done with in one hit. Come on let’s go.”
Once I grabbed two of my biggest suitcases and lugged them out of the back of the car I saw Laurie already powering ahead. I laughed quietly, she seems like a pocket rocket.
As I was walking along the path I saw Laurie take my bags down I was admiring the scenery when I heard some boys laughing and yelling at each other. If they see you just make a good impression of yourself, I thought to myself. Of course knowing my luck my plan failed as a football spun through the air and nailed me straight in the forehead.
“Ouch that hurt like a binch.” I whined, rubbing the throbbing ache with the palm of my hand.
“I’m so sorry!” One of the boys yelled. His Australian accent was awesome, that bought a smile to my lips.. I looked up and my jaw nearly dropped. He was so hot. Most of them were hot, apart from like the two that looked ten years old. The boy started to jog towards me.
“Hey you must be Annalise, right? I’m Eli, your friendly neighbourhood gay.” He said to me with a wink. Right of course, he’s hot so that must mean he’s gay. Does that mean they’re all either gay, taken, rude or a book character? Well they can’t be a book character but whatever.
“Hi, and yeah I’m Annalise. Nice to meet you.”
“You seem cool and by the way I am so sorry about your head. I totally forgot, do you need some ice or something?” Eli asked.
“Ah no it’s okay, thanks though.” I said. “I’ve got to go put my bags in my room.”
“Well I’ll help you.”
“Are you sure? I can manage.”
“Yeah saves some time, we’ll get it done quicker with you, mum and I.” He told me.
“Oh okay thanks.” I flashed Eli a quick smile and started to walk towards the house. Eli quickly caught up with some of my bags.
“So you’re a New York chick? Tell me, how are the guys over there?” He asked with a chuckle.
“They’re okay, most I’ve met are rude and stuck up but yeah.”
“Oh well there aren’t any hot gay guys at our school which sucks, but it’s good for you because look at you, you’re gorgeous. They’re going to love you.” Eli gushed when he actually looked me up and down. “Oh this is going to be so exciting! Getting to chose from so many boys!” He squealed, it was like a manly squeal.
“Ah I’m not interested at the moment but thanks.” I replied, trying to be as nice as possible. Of course I wanted a boyfriend but I just don’t have time, especially if they turn out to be rude.
“Ah well, you’ll just have to wait and see them. There are some hot ones.” He told me, a cheeky smirk painted across his face. We realised we stopped in front of the door, well doors. “We better go in. I can show you to your room.”
“Alright.” I said. I mix of excitement and nervousness bubbled up in my stomach. I was very excited to see my new house, my new room and my new life with new people.
After walking around the place and lugging my bags up stairs we reached my room. Two white, elegant doors almost stretched to the top of the ceiling. Timber handles waiting to be opened. As I pushed them open my mouth dropped in awe. The room wasn’t extravagant but it was beautiful. I loved it. There was a giant window with cream curtains stretched across the wall. The mattress was just sitting on the floor with a hessian looking blanket and a very fluffy looking throw over it. Fairy lights lit up the room as well as a timber light. A few plants, an old fashioned radio and rugs decorated the wooden floor. It was amazing, it just suited me.
“You like it?” Eli asked me, interrupting my thoughts.
I turned around and smiled. “I love it, it’s awesome.”
“That’s good, one of my brothers designed it and put it together for you.”
“That’s really nice of him, later when I find out everyone’s names I’ll thank whoever it was.” I told him.
“His name is Kayden, I don’t think he likes to be thanked but you can try it.” Eli told me, I raised an eyebrow. Who doesn’t like to be thanked? “I know what you’re thinking and I don’t really know why he doesn’t like to be thanked, I guess he’s just a little too modest.”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
“Anyway I’m going to leave you be, so you can unpack and stuff.” Eli said and then left.
After I had unpacked, I decided to wander through the hallway to find the bathroom. I finally came to a door with a small sign that said, “bathroom” on it. It was hardly noticable. I then looked around to see all the doors I had walked past had a sign on them, it was the boy’s names. As I went to open the door I heard giggling. It must be those two little boys playing in their room. I decided to not investigate it as my urge to pee was getting stronger. I opened the door and my jaw dropped.
This wasn’t the bathroom at all, in fact, this was a boys room. Which had a boy and a girl in it, making out! “Holy macerole!” I said loudly while covering my eyes.
“What the fuck?” “Do you mind?” The couple said.
