Chapter 1: Celestine meets Draco
A seven-year-old girl was walking along the streets of Diagon Alley with her mother. She was holding tightly onto her mother’s hand while they were window shopping. The streets were full, wizards and witches went in and out of each shop, a bunch of children filled the candy shop in the corner whilst some of them were looking at the newest broomstick model.
“Mum! Let’s go there! I want to see the new broom!” Celestine Anderson pointed at the shop that was filled with children then looked at her mother with a huge grin on her face, hoping that she’d agree to her request. She was such a huge fan of the famous wizarding sport, Quidditch.
Cassandra, her mother, showed an apologetic look “Not now Celeste, we still have to buy books for your sister. We could look at it later. Besides, the shop is crowded right now, I wouldn’t want you to wander around and get lost if I can’t catch up to you.”
“But mum- ” The child tried to whine
“Celestine, if you get lost and someone takes you to somewhere very far away from home, how will mommy find you?” Her mother asked, “Do you even know how to go back home?” The young witch suddenly bowed her head in embarrassment which was just the response her mother was expecting.
While they were walking, the young witch continued to look at anything that she found interesting. She glanced at different stores, how each store’s name would sound either interesting or funny. Muggles would be confused with some of the terms used. Celestine always loved her visits to Diagon Alley, particularly because she found the muggle world a bit boring. She was in fact, a pureblood witch. Despite being aware about her heritage, she never had a chance to explore the wizarding world, this area was her only glance of what it’s like to be a witch. While she was admiring all the colours and structures of the buildings, Celestine didn’t notice the young wizard that was walking towards her – eventually bumping into him and falling to the ground.
“I’m sorry!” Celestine exclaimed
The wizard that she bumped into also fell, he had white blonde hair and grey eyes. He did not look happy with what had happened. He stood up and composed himself then looked Celestine from head to toe then rolled his eyes. “Watch where you’re going next time.”
“Draco, don’t act rudely. The young lady didn’t intend to bump into you.” A tall, slim, blonde-haired woman said sternly, the young boy looked at his mother as if he didn’t see what he did wrong. “Apologise to her.” The woman added.
The boy named Draco sighed then faced Celestine once again, only to mumble an apology that was barely audible. Celestine didn’t bother to ask him to repeat it, she had a feeling that this young wizard’s pride is bigger than her Happy Meal toys collection.
Once the mother was content with her son’s actions, she approached the child and asked, “This place is too big for someone like you to be alone in, where are your parents?”
Celestine looked around, she started to panic internally when she realised that her mother was nowhere to be seen. “I think I lost mum when I bumped into him.” Her eyes turned to the boy.
“I have a name you know, it’s Draco Malfoy.”
Draco’s mother sighed, “Well, I can’t leave you here alone. Draco, let’s put today’s plans on hold until we find this young girl’s mother.” She turned to Celestine, “May I ask what your mother’s name is?”
Celestine looked at the woman hesitantly and recited the ‘most important rule’ that her mother taught her, “My mum said that I shouldn’t give any personal information to strangers”.
“Wow! You’re such a smart child, but I promise you that I’m not a bad person. I’ll tell you my name to prove it, okay? I’m Narcissa Malfoy, and this naughty child with me is Draco Malfoy. There, we aren’t strangers anymore, right?”
“I guess so...”
“So what’s your name?”
“I’m Celestine Lee-Anderson.”
Narcissa’s eyes widened when she heard the name, as if it was familiar to her. “Does your mother’s name happen to be Cassandra?”
“Actually, that is her name.”
“Oh? What a coincidence! You see, Cassandra was one of my classmates when I was a student in Hogwarts! We were both in Slytherin and became close friends during our 2nd year. Ever since she moved to the muggle world with her husband, we didn’t communicate that much, but I was aware that she had a daughter” Narcissa explained while smiling, “Aside from being one of Cassandra’s friends, I am also your godmother” she added.
The three of them walked around for an hour, Narcissa continuously talked to random wizards and witches in hopes that at least one of them saw Cassandra pass by. Eventually, she noticed that both of the kids were getting exhausted from the walking they had been doing all day. She led them to Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour and bought them a dessert of their choice. She instructed them to stay there while she continued to find Cassandra.
The children ate their ice cream without uttering a single word to one another. It got boring after Draco finished his ice cream so he attempted to start a conversation with the witch, “I saw that you were staring at a Quidditch broomstick earlier, since when were you interested in it?”
“My dad brought me to a Quidditch match last year, I fell in love with it ever since!” Celestine’s face lit up as she recalled that memory. “Although, watching Quidditch and actually playing it is a different experience, I wish mum would let me buy a broomstick.”
“Well, why doesn’t she let you?”
“She says that I won’t even be able to use it. We live in a muggle village.”
Draco raised his eyebrow, “It’s weird that you live there. A pureblood family should reside in the wizarding world.”
Celestine was confused, what was a pureblood? “Uhm, what family?”
“Are you a witch or not?” He asked in disbelief then explained, “A pureblood or clean blood is a wizard whose family comes from a long line of wizards who are pure blooded as well. Families who don’t form bonds with muggleborns, or muggles, or half-bloods. You and I are one of those families.”
“How are you sure that I am pureblood as well?”
“Easy. My family wouldn’t be friends with yours if otherwise. Mother also mentioned that your mum was sorted into Slytherin, a house that prefers only us purebloods.”
Celestine was unsure if she should continue the conversation. She had a feeling that Draco looked down on other families. If she weren’t a pureblood, would she even be having a calm conversation with him right now? He would probably ignore her if she magically turned into a muggle or something.
Draco spoke up, “You don’t seem to know a lot about our world,” he mentioned.
“I do know a bit. My parents would talk about their time at Hogwarts and I read a bunch of tales, but I don’t think my parents mentioned anything about blood.”
“I could tell you all that I know, if you want to know more about our world.”
“That’s great! I could even tell you about the muggle world!”
“No thanks. I’m not interested in it. My father says I should not involve myself with muggles.”
“Why not? There’s some great stuff about them. I also noticed they have things that we don’t!”
“Tell me, Ms. Celestine, what is so interesting about a world without magic?”
Celestine couldn’t answer him. She couldn’t deny that the wizarding world is much more fascinating, heck, she would do anything to explore it.
As she looked back on her memories with her father – who was mostly the one to teach her about the wizarding world – she realised that she grew up in a household where blood status wasn’t that important. Her father, Theodore Anderson, believed that you shouldn’t hate someone because of their status.
The doors of the ice cream parlour suddenly opened, Narcissa Malfoy came inside, alongside her was Celestine’s mother, who had a look of relief on her face when she saw her daughter. “Celeste! Oh I was so worried!” She ran towards the young witch and hugged her tightly.
After a few seconds, Cassandra pulled out of the hug and faced her friend, “Thank you so much, Cissy. How could I ever repay you?”
“There’s no need for that, Cass! I’m just glad we got to see each other again after so long.” Narcissa smiled and signalled Draco to come towards her, “Well, I’ll be off then. I promised Draco that we will have some bonding time today. It was lovely to bump into you and your daughter!”
Before they could leave, Draco whispered something to his mother. It was an action that caught Celestine’s attention.
“Cassandra, would it be alright if you brought Celestine over to the Manor some time? Just in case she would want to spend some time with Draco and other children around her age.”
“I think Celeste would love that! What do you think, honey?” Cassandra looked at her daughter, who nodded in response.
“It’s settled! Send me an owl if you will take her. I better be going now. Say ‘hello’ to Theodore for me!”
The two mothers waved at each other, before the Malfoys were out of sight, Celestine saw Draco look back at her to give a thin smile, then his figure disappeared as they walked into the crowd.
She could not figure out what to make of that boy. He wasn’t entirely bad, but he wasn’t a good one either.
She sighed and thought ‘Well, remember what father says, don’t judge an owl by its feathers’.
A few days passed since Celestine’s visit to Diagon Alley. Her father recently went on a business trip, which would last for who knows how long. Cassandra focused more on taking care of Celestine’s younger sister, Trixie. It got boring in their home, no one would talk to Celestine.
It was bearable for two to three days. She loved playing with her toys by herself and reading stories. However, as a week passed by, she finished everything that she could ever do and resulted in lying on her bed all day.
Celestine contemplated whether she wanted to visit Draco’s home. After all, her godmother invited her. She was a little worried since Narcissa mentioned that she would be meeting other kids as well. Would they act the same as Draco? Handling him alone was easy, but a whole group of kids like him would probably be impossible to deal with.
After a few more days passed, she finally decided to ask her mother if she could go. Celestine reminded herself that she shouldn’t judge the other kids before she even got the chance to meet them. Same goes for Draco, she shouldn’t think badly of him just because of one negative encounter.
On the morning of June 1st, Celestine dashed to the comfort room the moment she woke up. This greatly confused her five year old sister, Trixie, she has never seen Celestine move that fast in her whole life. Trixie walked towards her mother’s bed and poked her on the shoulder to wake her up. “Mum, where will Celeste go?” Trixie asked curiously
Cassandra’s eyes fluttered open and she let out a yawn. “Your sister will be meeting some new people” Trixie frowned at her mother’s answer “Don’t worry Trix, I’ll spend time with you today, we could go to your favourite candy store” Cassandra suggested which made her youngest child smile and nod repeatedly.
After the two girls got dressed, Cassandra prepared breakfast for them and fixed herself up while waiting for them to finish. Celestine loved it whenever her mother cooked, she always thought her mum was the best cook in the whole world because her dishes always tasted perfect. .
When they were all set, the three girls stood in the living room “Celestine and Trixie, hold my hand tightly okay? Don’t let go.” Cassandra instructed her girls who nodded immediately, when she felt their grip on her hand, she closed her eyes and the three of them apparated to Malfoy Manor.
In the blink of an eye, Celestine went from being inside of her beloved abode, to standing in front of a tall gate surrounded by hedges of leaves that reminded her of garden mazes. She couldn’t even think about being amazed by her mother’s ability because she felt the strong urge to throw up right then and there.
Upon their arrival, the gate opened and Cassandra started to walk towards it. From afar, Celestine could see the figure of Narcissa Malfoy coming closer to them.
“Cass! I’m glad you made it! You got here so early, the others haven’t even arrived yet.”
Cassandra let out a slight laugh, “Trixie and I will have a mother-daughter date. I decided to drop off Celeste earlier than planned. I’ll be back by dinner.”
Cassandra and Trixie said their goodbyes to Celestine. “See you later, eonnie!” Trixie exclaimed right just before they disappeared from sight.
Narcissa Malfoy grabs ahold of the young witch’s hand. “Let’s go, Draco’s waiting for us inside.” She said and they started walking towards Malfoy Manor.
The walk was a pretty long one, Celestine wanted to grow closer to her godmother so she started talking about all her interests and hobbies which included Quidditch, food, and the colour blue. Narcissa can’t help but laugh at how talkative the child was, she was the complete opposite of her son who is quiet and wouldn’t talk unless he was spoken to. She hoped the two children would get along despite having two completely different personalities.
They stopped in front of a greatly built house. Celestine had never seen anything like it. The manor was so huge that ten regular muggle houses stacked up together wouldn’t even compare to it. It was a fascinating sight yet, the manor felt so gloomy for some reason.
The main entrance was opened by a small creature that was dressed up in rags.
“What’s that?” Celestine couldn’t help but ask
“That is the Malfoy family’s house elf. His name is Dobby, if you need anything, you can just call his name and he’ll await your orders. Oh, before I forget, do not give him any clothes, okay? It sets them free.”
The child was confused, “Are they trapped here? What’s wrong with freeing them?”
Instead of answering her question, Narcissa just patted her on the head and ordered Dobby to set up the playroom. Dobby nodded to his mistress and disappeared.
Celestine and her godmother entered the manor which was filled with artefacts that were hundreds of years old. The young witch also noticed a bunch of large portraits of different people, were they related to Draco? Possibly.
Something that caught Celestine’s attention was the magnificent chandelier that was hanging from the ceiling; she thought it was something she could only see in castles. Celestine never even dreamed of having one in her own home since it would occupy their whole living room.
Celestine and Narcissa went up the staircase and walked through a long hallway, there were a lot of doors that led to who-knows-where. The child wondered how on Earth could memorise all the rooms in this place.
After a few more minutes of walking, they finally reached Draco’s room. Narcissa knocked on the door.
Draco opened the door, he was wearing a black shirt and pants as if those were the only clothes he owned, since the outfit he wore in their first encounter in Diagon Alley was exactly the same. “You’re here early.” he mentioned.
Narcissa went ahead and kissed her son on the cheek, “You look great as always, Draco. Now, could you let Celestine stay in your room while I make some preparations?”
“Do I have a choice?” Her son sighed and gestured to Celestine to come inside his room.
The young Malfoy’s room was bigger than Celestine and Trixie’s room combined. The witch was somewhat jealous. She could imagine all the things she could put inside a room as big as this. Bookshelves, a wardrobe, an indoor pool…
“You seem surprised. Haven’t you seen a bedroom before?” Draco couldn’t help but wonder why his companion was reacting in such a way.
“Muggle homes don’t usually have bedrooms as big as this one.” Celestine answered, “I’m curious though, why is this place empty? I expected that you would have a lot of furniture here.”
Draco raised his eyebrow and walked closer to a chest that was placed near his bed. He opened it so the girl could take a look inside, “All of my things are in here. It’s been enchanted with an Extension Charm so I could fit as many things as I want here.”
“That sounds amazing!” Celestine said while peeking at the contents of the chest, she saw books, toys, shoes, and all sorts of other stuff, but she seemed fairly interested in two items. She reached towards it and gave Draco a look asking if she could borrow it.
It was the latest Quidditch broomstick model, Draco agreed to let her borrow it and he offered to play with her so he could teach her.
The two kids immediately ran to the garden while holding their broomsticks, this was the first time that Celestine would try riding a broom, and just thinking about it made her heart leap!
“Okay okay, what should I do first?”
“Mount your broom,” Draco instructed while showing her how to do it. “Then kick your feet off the ground, hold onto the handle tightly!” He reminded her. She followed his instructions and soon found herself flying in the air. Y/N wasn’t fond of heights but she definitely loved what she was feeling right now. “Are you okay up there?” Draco shouted
“Yes!” Celestine yelled back while looking down, suddenly, her fear of heights kicked in and she lost her balance. She screamed for help.
Draco, who was not prepared for this sort of situation, did the only thing he could. “DOBBY!” He called.
The small house elf from earlier appeared and asked, “What does the master need?” Draco pointed to the witch who was panicking and whose broom was uncontrollable. He ordered the elf to get her off the broomstick. “Will do, sir.”
After a second passed, Dobby appeared once again in front of Draco with Celestine beside him. The broom that she was riding fell, eventually breaking because of the impact from hitting the ground.
Celestine’s eyes widened and she apologised to Draco repeatedly, who just shrugged it off. “Don’t worry about it, I could always ask my mother and father to buy a new one. I could even ask them to hire a tutor to teach you how to ride a broom.” He joked
They started walking back to the main entrance of Malfoy Manor. Celestine was quiet, it seemed like she still felt bad after what had just happened. Draco couldn’t help but stare at her without her knowing. He didn’t get why it was a big deal after he assured her it was alright.
As much as he didn’t want to admit it, Draco liked how she was amazed by the simplest things. Flying? That was pretty normal activity to him, but not to her. Watching her fly with a huge smile on her face gave him some sort of happiness that he couldn’t feel even if his parents gave him the newest toy he demanded.
He just didn’t like the fact that she spent too much time in the muggle world. His father said that wizards who are too involved with muggles are bad, and he always kept that in mind.
The two kids hurried back inside the Manor, when they entered the living room, they saw a group of adults conversing with one another. There were a few kids beside the group. Draco knew them so he waved at them and walked closer while Celestine didn’t move away from her spot.
Draco and the other kids walked closer towards her, “This is Celestine Anderson. She will be joining us from now on.” The four kids looked at Celestine excitedly, they all shook hands with her.
“Hello! I am Pansy. You look cute, just like me! I finally have a best friend.” One girl smiled
“Pfft. What are we? Animals?” One of the kids said, “I’m Blaise Zabini by the way.”
The names of the other kids were Theodore Nott, Vincent Crabbe, and Gregory Goyle.
Pansy felt her stomach growl, “Why don’t we go to the kitchen? I’m hungry, “she suggested. Since the kids were allowed to do whatever they wanted, they went ahead without asking permission from their parents, after all, it would be rude to interrupt the adults who looked like they were focused in their serious-looking conversation.
The kids walked into a kitchen that was filled with food. They grabbed all the food their hearts desired. Crabbe and Goyle got the most. Celestine only got a cupcake since she wasn’t really in the mood for eating.
“So, Celestine, how did you realise that you were a witch? What were the signs?” Pansy attempted to start a conversation.
“Mum said I threw a tantrum and all the things in the room started to fly.” Celestine giggled at the memory. “I was four-years-old at the time.”
“Mother said that I blew up a bowl. Funny thing is, I was also throwing a tantrum at the time.” Draco recalled.
“I teleported from one place to another when I was playing a game with my older brother.” Theo answered coolly.
“I don’t remember, I just know that I’m a wizard.” Blaise said proudly.
“Squib” Pansy rolled her eyes at him, which burst his bubble
“Am not!”
While Pansy and Blaise were having their petty argument, Celestine heard an unfamiliar voice speak from outside the kitchen.
“Theodore Anderson’s not doing well, he’s got a few years left at most.” Said the voice.
Although she did not fully understand what the voice meant, at that moment, Celestine excused herself from the group and followed it. Draco noticed the sudden change of behaviour and decided to follow the girl. He didn’t want his guest to almost fall from a broom and get lost in his manor on the same day.
Celestine was about to talk to the stranger who somehow knew her father, but Draco caught up to her and stopped her. “Why are you following my father?”
“Huh? That’s your dad?”
“Of course. Isn’t it obvious? His name is Lucius Malfoy–”
“Yes, Draco?” Mr. Malfoy spoke out of nowhere, it made the two children jump. “Who is this with you?”
“This is Celestine Anderson. A new friend that mother invited here.”
“I see. Nice to meet you. Narcissa and I are good friends with your parents. It’s great to have you here.” Lucius smiled at the young witch and was about to mind his own business again when Celestine approached him.
“Excuse me Mr Malfoy-”
“What is it Ms. Celestine?”
“I heard you mention my father a few seconds ago. You said he is not doing well. Could you tell him to come home so he can rest if he is sick? Mum, Trixie, and I miss him a lot.”
“Oh, don’t mind what you heard. I know where he is and he is just facing some challenges at… work. Don’t worry about him, he’ll be home soon enough.” Lucius Malfoy assured the worried witch. “However, I’m sorry but I cannot tell him to come home until he finishes his task.” He looked at his son and ordered him to take his friends to the playroom.
Celestine sighed and just gave up. She was not used to not having her father around, this was the longest time he had been away because of work. He didn’t even bother to send a letter.
When the two entered the kitchen once again, the other kids asked what happened, Celestine smiled and said, “Nothing. Let’s go play upstairs.”
Draco knew something was not right. After all, since when did Ms. Goodie-Two-Shoes suddenly lie in front of her friends?
Small changes I made in the revised version of this fic: 1. Cassandra’s name used to be Maxwell-Anderson but now it is Lee-Anderson. This means she has Asian roots.
2. Draco and Celestine originally waited in front of Flourish and Blotts instead of the ice cream shop. 3. This chapter was originally written in three parts, “Meeting Him” ,“Malfoy Manor” , and “New Friends” but since they had a similar objective, which was getting to know Draco, I combined it into one.
4. Celestine originally knew nothing about the Wizarding World aside from Quidditch.
5. While riding the broomstick for the first time, Celestine got used to it quickly and flew around Malfoy Manor but I think it didn’t seem realistic for a seven-year-old to know how to use a broom for the first time.
6. Celestine was originally a metamorphmagus but I scrapped the idea.

im confuse,did u delete the other chapters?😂
