I love it, as all story unfolds..hooked from the beginning
"My God, how hard must have been then, that time - the '80s , be so 'different', also so amazing and so special. I just love Alley, very brave for his/her age. While I'm reading, I hope they can really sort these feelings and things out. Maybe even seing each other after all this time..I mean things have changed for the better 😊"
A worthful, enjoyable book
" This is a story, that shows a complex relationship between two boys in 1981, fighting the distance between them, naïvety and doubt. I loved this book for the philosophical sentences about choices of life, how does it builds the path to us, and gender identity. Also the XX century atmosphere was really vivid and the differencing lifestyles (especially Ellie's) and views of it, were a pleasure to intake. There were moment of really weird imagery with a hint of a nearly fantastical elements of a ghost, which I really enjoyed. By the way, the fact that the author purposefully had not revealed the main character's name made the novel stand out. What I didn't like about this novel was the stagnant ending. The conflicts and the doubts of the characters in the book were clear and were solved through out the story, leaving the ending quite empty with nothing new, so instead building to the climax, it just stopped near the end. Besides it wasn't really clear, what was the goal of the main character in the present. Was it to find Ellie, or to change the view of the past? Finally the writing style was more telling than showing. In the end it was an enjoyable novel for the summer, a worthful read in my opinion, especially for the philosophical sense."
