Chapter 1

Dear Jovonn,

To be honest with you, You're definitely never going to read this so, I'm just going to be honest with you. You are one of the nicest guys I have ever had as a friend. You're smart, kind, and caring. You always have been there for me and I wish that I could tell you this but, I'm just too shy. When we were in the seventh grade and we were at Cassie's house for seven minutes in heaven, I thought for sure that she would get mad that you kissed me but, I guess I was wrong. You were my first kiss and you didn't find ways to make me feel awkward after that kiss.

Yours truly- Emily Anderson

Emily set the letter down on her desk. She couldn't believe how long ago she had written these. All of these letters. One to Nickolas, Jackson, Jovonn, Beckett, Aaron, and Sam. She laughed at herself. She picked them all back up and put them back into her shoebox and put them into her closet. She was such a different person then. Quiet, kind, and definitely shy. Now? Now she was louder, spoke her mind, and she still was kind but, in a different way. She got up off her chair and ran downstairs after getting dressed. Her dad was sitting at the table with her younger brother. Her older sister had went off to college just a few weeks ago in London.

"Hey, daddy."He smiled when she kissed him on the cheek.

"Hey sweetie how'd you sleep?"

"Good. What about you?" She yawns.

"I slept very well." He nods.

"Is Em driving me to school today?" Brandon asked. Their dad shakes his head.

"No. I can drive you today. Are you okay with driving yourself Em?" Emily nodded.

"Yeah."

"Alright well, then I will see you when I get home then." He leaned over and kissed her on the cheek before getting up of the diner stool.

"Love you, dad. Have a good day at work."

"You know I will."

Once Emily had gotten behind the wheel of her sister's car, she put the key into the ignition and was on her way. What she didn't realize was the car that had pulled out in front of her after she had already gotten halfway through the intersection. She hadn't felt the impact until a few minutes later when the car was on its side on the other side of the road. Feeling the blood rushing to her head and it dripping down her face, she cried out in pain. She had a horrible headache and her legs hurt. The glass in the car from the windshield had broken. She tried to push her way out of the car and once she successfully did, she got as far away from the car that she could.

"Oh my goodness are you okay?" She heard someone shout from across the road. She couldn't really make out who they were at first being that her vision was a little blurry. She would not pass out. She couldn't. She had to get to school. "Hey! Hey! Are you okay?" The person took her face into their hands. Their hands were soft but calloused.

"I'm fine. Well, at least I will be." She answered drowsily. Finally recognizing who was holding her face in their hands, she sat up straight and widened her eyes. "Jovonn? What are you doing here?"

"I was driving by when I saw you sitting in front of your car and it was flipped. Did you call the towing company?" She shakes her head slowly, feeling her head start to pound even worse.

"Did a car hit you?" He questions curiously. She nods. "Well, it's not here anymore."

"I don't even care to be honest. I just want to get this blood off my face." She rubs her head and wipes some of the blood off with her hand.

"Here let me help you up." He holds out his hand and she takes it.

"Thanks."

"No problem Anderson. Can I at least help you clean yourself up?"

"You've already done enough and wouldn't Cassie get pissed if you did that?" He laughs.

"Cassie gets pissed at anything. So, it won't matter either way." He pointed out as I smile.

"You're right. Alright, I guess."

"Okay, lets go then."

Jovonn stared intently at the road, knowing that his girlfriend would definitely be pissed. No, she would be furious.

"Listen Jovonn I just wanted to thank you again for helping me." She exclaimed weakly. "Turn right." He nods.

"I know Anderson, I've been to your house before. We were once friends." He wondered exactly why they had stopped being friends in the first place. He had remembered that Cas had just stopped talking to her in the 9th grade. That's when everyone had separated and he had discovered lacrosse.

"Yeah well, not everyone stays friends Jovi." She contented, looking out the window avoiding his gaze.
