Greetings-Chapter 1
“My name is Malai(PRONOUNCED Mah-lie) Tafara.” I proudly stated in the room full of peers scattered in all 4 corners, with a group of others sitting at a table in the front-yet not paying attention, and a teacher who looked like she was trying to make this class seem fun for my first day. I recall her name was Ms.Smith“I’m sorry Malai (teacher pronounced it My-life), but they are not going to calm down while you’re here. Why don’t you go sit down next to Rowan or at the group of people right there in the front? I know you’re new here but you’re going to have to introduce yourself to them on your own time. I have to do my job now.” Ms.Smith explained. With shoulders sunk, I nodded and went to the seat I was assigned. I got to the side ‘supposedly’ Rowan was at and I sat in the corner seat- since it was the only seat I had access. I guess I was too loud because when I sat down, the people near me went on hush mode. I pretended that nothing happened and pulled out my KJV bible that my sister-in-law gave me before she moved to Illinois with my brother-her husband. My relationship with God was starting to be rocky because its been a long time since I opened the Bible or even watched anything to benefit my relationship with God- besides when in church, and I don’t know if God will come back while I’m doing an 8=hour marathon on K-dramas.
“You gave off a ’Christiany vibe,” a girl with blonde and purple-dyed ends hair said.
Is that even a thing?
“I know what you’re thinking- but it’s just a habit of Vykii. Everything gives off some sort of aura for her,” explained a boy who had an interesting face to look at.
“My name’s Viiyktor- I am the brother of Vykii and sadly cousin of that guy next to you,” Viiyktor said stretching his right arm for me to shake.
I nodded my head towards him and tried to go back to reading but then he tried to start a conversation..and I did not want to give off a rude first impression so I just closed my bible and pretended to be listening-though I did not make any comments.
Sorry God, I’m still working on putting you first...

*Ding dingding Dong.*
The first bell of the day rung so I gathered my stuff and plugged in my earphones and put on my music loud and walked out the door towards my locker to gather my stuff for Analytic Geometry be-
Tafara.
I heard someone calling my name. Even though I was like 3 lockers away from mines now-yeah, I walk really fast- I took out one of my earbuds and turned to see who was calling me.
Big mistake.
Someone was jogging towards me and then halted at their feet but the rest of their body moved forward and they used the lockers behind me as support.
Next thing I know I came face-to-chest with someone I did not know- never mind.
“Cousin of Viiyktor?” I asked.
“Sorry, Sorry, I didn’t do that on purpose, Sorry.” He started saying while backing up off of me and rubbing his hands on his pants. “H-h-how did you know? I don’t recall you ch..ec-ch-checking me out once you sat down...” He asked pulling his hoodie over his face as if hoping I did not see something.
“I didn’t see your face- if you were wondering. And I knew because of your smell- you smell like an EXPO marker with extra rubbing alcohol over it and I like that smell so it was easy to remember.” I reasoned.
“Oh” he replied sounding disappointed.
“Yeah...” Then we just stood there awkward for some seconds before I remembered I why I was in the hallways and turned to go towards my locker. When Viiyktor’s cousin started talking “Where are you-Oh Beaver’s Dam. I came to tell you our school isn’t one of those normal class changing high schools in Georgia. Our teachers go their classes instead of us students.”
I stood looking confused.”Why do th-”
“Just to keep peace in the hallways,” he replied rather fast as if trying to hide something.
I told him okay and asked if I could get my bookbag and he said sure, so I did. He offered to hold it but I kindly declined; My bad was not even that heavy. But then he ended up saying if I don’t, it’ll seem like he has no manners- so I gave it to him. And we walked back to class together.
When we got to class, it got quiet for some reason unknown to me, but when we got to our desk, it went back to chatters including the people at my table. I listened but my mind was wondering to something else....
More like someone else....
