I couldn’t remember the last time I let my hair down, my gang leader duties become too hard to handle at points. “Leah?” Carter asked, as he walked up beside me as I tugged at the edges of my leather jacket.
“You okay?” He questioned, putting his hands on my shoulders as I relaxed into my second in command. Whenever it came to big decisions, I normally let it go to my 21 year old best friend. I was only 17 but we met when I ran away when I was 14.
“Yeah, I’m alright.” I answered as our car pulled up in front of the new gang house - although most of the gang members would be staying here, I would be going back to living with my parents.
“Mhm, Leah. Mhm, whatever you say.” He said, ruffling my hair in an affectionate way and I scowled instantly. Asshole. I grumbled some incoherent words before getting into my BMW X5.
“I’ll see you later Carter,” I shouted out of the window and he nodded before I quickly drove out of the building. I had left my jacket with him - knowing I would get it back later on in the week.
I took a double step as I entered the Cartola residence, my dad's sheriff cruiser was outside, parked and my mums expensive car was parked next to it.
I took a deep breath before knocking on the door, my little sister - who was only two years younger than me opened it. "Hello little sister," I said, and she looked at me surprised - her eyes glazed over before she wrapped her arms around me in a tight embrace.
"Where were you? Dad did everything to try and find you with no avail." She whimpered into my hold on her, I could feel the tears piling up in my eyes - the strong stinging sensation was a pleasant feeling for me since it was the first emotion I've had in three years.
"I'm sorry pumpkin, I'm so sorry." I whispered, kissing her hair as she cried into me. Her arms were wrapped tightly around my neck as she tried to make sure that I wouldn't leave again.
After a good ten minutes of me standing on the door step trying to comfort her, she finally calmed enough to let me inside. "Mum! Dad, Tyler!" She screamed, before an exhausted looking male came down the stairs.
"What is it Thalia?" Tyler groaned, his blue eyes showing tiredness and anger. His eyes then traveled to me as I leaned up against the wall and his eyes widened.
"L?" He questioned and I let out a quiet chuckle and sob at the same time - which sounded like a constipated cockapoo. "Oh my god," He whispered, before he ran over to me and picked me up into his arms, causing me to scream with laughter coming out of my lips.
"I've missed you, where have you been? What have you been doing, why haven't you bee--" He said and I just let out a low chuckle.
"All in due course brother, I'll explain everything. I promise," I said, "Cross my heart, hope to die." I said, quickly doing a cross on my heart and he nodded - before pushing a kiss to my temple.
"What's going on in here?" A ruff voice came from behind us, causing all of us to turn around.
