Whisperers

I feel the tears, dry on my face. My seat leaning back, almost to the point of uncomfortable. My eyes crusted, I wipe at them. I open my eyes to see every color you can imagine. I can see their emotions, the emotions of the people around me. Like waves in the air around them. Their auras.

I look out the airplane window, looking down at my new home country. Liverpool, England. It doesn't feel like home. I lean my seat back up and gasp at the pain in my leg. I recently broke my leg, falling out of a tree. The tree that is back home. I hear the whisperers, but I can’t see them. I push my hearing to the pit. I hear the pilots talking nonsense. I push out all my senses now, the feel of the prickly seat on my now sensitive skin, seeing every follicle of a persons head, smell the pungent odor of sweat. Taste every ingredient of the smoothie I’m drinking.

I lean up and look behind me. The boy behind me, he looks to be around my age, I’m 17. I see that he is about 6′9", which is pretty tall. His hair is shaved on all sides, but it’s a little longer on the top. The longer part is curly, his hair has been dyed, but now it looks faded. It looked about dirty blonde. I looked at his eyes the same time they reached mine. There is a rare eye condition, I can't think of the name.

Heterochromia, that's it. That's what it is. That's what I have my brown eyes are half blue, or at least one of them is. And that's probably what this beautiful boy has, too. Half of one of his eyes is brown, and the rest blue.

"Was my seat crowding your legs? If so, I am so very sorry," I said, guiltily. He smiles,"Don't you worry about it. You looked like you were in pain, so I let you be." He looks at me sympathetically.

His accent is glorious. The slight roll of the tongue. I never heard anything like him.

He didn't look like he had any flaws. He was perfect, almost angelic.

I laugh at my self, Dove, what are you talking about. You don't know him. He is a stranger, tell myself. I could get to know him though.

I need to stop my thoughts. I don't even know him. He could be a serial killer for all I knew, but he didn't look like one to me...

"No! You should have told me," I insisted," I wasn't in pain either."

He shrugged,"Oh well. I'm Blake, nice to meet you."

I hesitantly look up at his eyes again," I'm Dove, and it's nice to meet you to." Blake grins.

It's good to have a name with a face. His name is just as good sounding as his face is good looking. I blush at my thoughts.

I get up, wince at the pain in my leg, and look at the empty seat next to Blake. I plop down next to him,"Is it alright if I sit here?"

Blake nods," Sure. You don't need to ask me, I wouldn't have told you to go away." I blush even harder.

I shouldn't be like this. I just went through a traumatic event, I should not be acting like this. I should be crying my tear ducts out. My eyes swell up with tears.

"Hey. What's wrong, Dove? Don't cry. Are you hurt?," Blake begs. I wipe at my eyes.

"I don't want to cry. I was thinking about something that happened, and yes I was hurt, I broke my leg not long ago," I forced back the sob that was in my throat. It hurts to keep stuff like this from people. It just makes them not trust you too. I'm going to tell him.

I blurt it all out, one piece of information at a time. I tell him about how I was bullied, and how that when I got home from school, my house was in ashes, and so were my parents. The people who loved me and raised me. The only people who cared were them.

I felt that something was wrong that day when I left for school. I felt that something bad would happen, and so it did.

I told him about how my best friend, Jacob, was killed in a car accident. The opposing driver was drunk. Hit Jacob head on on the highway.

"Oh my God, Dove, I am so sorry you had to go through that," Blake reached out, like he was going to hug me, but then quickly retracted his arms to his sides,"Now I feel really bad!"

I shook my head,"No, don't feel bad for me. Feel bad for your self, because you're sitting next to bad karma."

He chortled,"Ha! You're the one sitting next to karma. Would you like to here my story? It's ok if you don't."

I nod,"Yes please."

Complete strangers telling their deepest secret. The secret of how our parents died. We didn't know each other, but it feels like we've known each other for eternity.

The pilot interrupted our conversation,"Please buckle your seat belts, we will be landing shortly."

I quickly buckled up and sat quietly for the majority of the rest of the time on the plane. I hassle of all the people, eager to get off the plane. Their bright orange excitement, swirling around them.

The whisperers are hounding people do sin. The very second everyone got of of the plane, they pursued the humans, even me. They tell me the people they have made sin, and how many they converted.

My parents were not my real parents, they adopted me when I was only a few weeks old. My real mother died of child birth, and my father. I don't know what happened to him.

Blake and I walk off the plane together. In terminal three. We parted ways, and exchanged numbers. I had a good feeling that we would see each other again.
