Introduction
“RUN!” Her voice was so loud in a screech that it was almost quite. I ran. I didn’t look back. I knew she wasn’t going to make it out alive. “HUNTER!” It was him. The blood red dragon. His emerald green eyes full of hurt, hatred and fear. He stretched his neck to grab my scruff, and flew higher and higher, farther and farther from the Island I called home. We flew for three days but they lasted decades. We passed mountains that rained for days and beaches with white sands. All the while I was thinking of her. Her voice crying out to the world for help and telling me to run.
“We’re here,” The red dragon said with a deep voice. Finally, I was able to look up at him and his face was full of sorrow.
“Do I have to go?” I didn’t want to hear the answer when he looked at me. Surprisingly, he rubbed his head around my body as if he was my kin, my father. I gave a light purr that came from deep in my throat. He started purring too.
“Will I ever see her again” I asked pulling back from him. The pained look that swiftly crossed his face gave me my answer.
“ No,... I don’t think so” He looked away for a moment and sighed.
“ She loves you, and that’s all you need to know. That is all you could ever know.” Tears welled up in my eyes
“It’s all my fault, I should have stayed, I should have helped her” I was crying now and had changed slowly into my human form.
“ No! It’s not your fault. You did what she wanted you to do. She wanted you to live your life the way you should. To have a childhood and to find who you are.” He said to me softly as he wrapped his large soft leather like wings around my small exposed 10 year old human body. The trees started to shake and the ground was vibrating. Black dust was rising from the earth and crowding the both of us.
“I’ll protect you. I promise” He was holding me tightly and was growling at something in the darkness that seemed to leave no light excepted his green eyes and amulet that seem to be the only glowing objects. I felt something cold and dangerous touch my bare stomach. It was trying to push between us but I held on as tight and long as I could but the thing was to strong.
“ No!” I heard my voice come out like her voice. I flew back and landed on my back.
“HUNTER!” His voice was full of fear and was dangerous. He was quickly being swallowed by the blackness of this heartless earth.
“NO ,PLEASE, DON’T LEAVE ME” I shouted with my small voice.
“ Don’t be afraid Hunter, We love you” I hear the last of his voice as an echo.
“ Dad please, Mom’s gone. I need you” I whisper into the blackness and pulling my knees to my chest. I cried till I couldn’t no more. Looking at where he was devoured by the blackness I said,
“I will have revenge and I will have you back. I promise”.
