Chapter 1
Elsa’s POV
Noon came but the rain didn’t stop. I sat on the couch next to my bedroom’s glass door; looking at my verandah which was covered in plants that I had spent almost three years growing in perfection. I was having a restful time as I adored the dimly lit greenery outside. The rain was pouring slowly, and I watched my numerous plants get drenched in tiny raindrops that made everything seem so peaceful. But it was the grey covered skies that brought back a chilling vision and I couldn’t help but to close my eyes and remember that “day.”
Their faces reopened the yet-to-heal scar on my heart.
A knock came banging on the door.
“THIS IS THE POLICE OPEN UP!”
A sudden shock came striding by. The three men froze at the sound of the banging and panicked when they realized it was the police.
The man that was raping me extricated himself from on top of me and glided off the bed.
I curled myself up in the sheets and watched them try to escape, but before they could, the door was broken down and laser guns were pointed to their faces. I cried, bearing the pain between my thighs. I looked through my blurry eyes which my tears had clogged up and saw an officer approaching me. He pulled the sheets off of me and panicked at the bloody sight he witnessed.
“We need an ambulance now!,” He screamed to the other officers.
After the officers failed to move, he looked at them with fierce intimation and screamed again, “NOW!”
As I was rushed out of the house on a stretcher, I saw Mr. Garfield with his hands cuffed behind his back.
He dragged the officer who confiscated him over to where I was.
“God! Elsa, what happened?”
I heard the worry in his voice, he thought I was safe, he made sure I was safe every night when he placed me in bed but, that night I went over the boundary and I faced the consequences.
“She was raped sir, now please step back we need to get her to the hospital,” the paramedic said to him.
I was so weak I couldn’t even say a word, I started to faint; before I knew it I was seeing darkness. The last thing I heard Mr. Garfield sorrowfully said was, “I’m sorry Elsa, I’m so sorry.”
The day got darker and the moon became brighter. I lit a scented candle and placed it on my nightstand. I gently rested my tired body on the bed and closed my eyes. The last thing I remembered was telling the voices in my head, Goodnight.
