Prologue
“What the fuck Allison?!?!” my dad's voice booms throughout the house from his drunken state. "How the hell did you lose your job at a place that pays well. Now that means we both have to find a job!" yelled my dad furiously and it causes me to flinch. I was hiding in the shadows in the dark hallway outside of my parent's room.
"Well, after Dillan was born you stopped loving me and our sex isn't the same. It's as if you're just doing it for release and not out of love." mom's soft voice gets a little louder and she sounds hurt and mad at the same time. But my question is, what is sex? "So you decided to take the opportunity to fall in love and sleep with your boss which later on his wife found out and fired you!" his voice got louder causing me to whimper in fear. That is when both of my parents noticed they weren't by themselves anymore.
When my mother looks at me her beautiful blue-grey eyes that are just like mine looks like there is a huge storm forming in her eyes. But the scariest part is that she is not looking at me with her loving maternal eyes but with hatred but also confusion? Why is she looking at me like that? Did I say or do something wrong? Is mommy mad at me? Dad whips his head around and he looks at me with a monstrous look like he wanted to hurt me. "YOU!!!" he points towards me and marches to me. When he is only a couple of inches away from me he slaps me. "You rotten, ungrateful, sneaky child. This is all your fault, we were fine without you. Ugh, I can't stand to look at you." he slaps me again but this time he spits on me and walks off back to my parent's room and I hear a loud smack.
I stare in horror at the room that has my so-called 'parents' sleep in. The next thing I hear is a scream of pain but not a pain that shows they're hurt badly. The sound was coming from my mom, that sound was followed by some weird sounds my dad was making.
All I remember from the rest of that night was that I cried myself to sleep for two reasons. One, the look my mom gave me after she saw that I was in the hall the whole time. Two, the fear for my dad was so strong that I didn't recognize him anymore.
That night, I knew nothing was going to be the same again.
