Ashes don't burn

Summary

I wanted to save them all. But killing them won't be a bad idea, right? "Where are you going?" His voice called for me from behind. I turned and tried to look at his face but it was too messed up. "There's fire ahead. You will burn." "You don't say that to ashes." I faced ahead, trying not to look at him. "You will just increase their fear by going. They will think..." "That the prophecy suggested long time ago is happening and they will die. They tried to change their destiny that's why I am facing flames ahead. No matter what you do, your destiny won't change. Let them burn by the ashes they made once in a while." That said I went on and the only words I got from him were. "Don't die." Like I would.

With a desperate look on my face I looked at my brother. He was sitting in the doorway, tying his shoe laces.

He was wearing black clothes with a black cloak on the top. Even his shoes were black. He had loved this colour since I know. When he completed tying his shoes he sat while putting all his weight on his hands which he placed behind him.

“Is it really necessary to go?” I asked him. I felt like he had sensed my presence and was waiting for me to talk. When I asked him this question, he turned his head to look at me. Since I was right behind him I could only see right upper half of his face. He had a sad look in his eyes, a look which seemed to be filled with both anger and sorrow at the same time.

He then looked forward and after a while replied while looking down, “I have to go. I have been selected as one of the top students.”

His entering in the top class was good news for me. I even jumped in joy when I heard about it. It was a good thing. But there was a rumour going on all around the country about that top class of magic.

“Will we be able to meet again?” I asked with sorrow in my eyes. I never wanted to get apart from my brother.

“Because of that rumour?” He asked me. He might have understood about what was going on inside my head. He looked towards me as I nodded in agreement. “It’s true that I will not be allowed to meet you after I get to there. But it is necessary for me to go.” He added.

“Because of that threat?” I asked and he replied with a ‘Yes’.

After that I had nothing to say. I never wanted my brother to go, but I also didn’t want to be the cause of world domination. He was such a nice brother all the time. I loved him.

“Ok, I know. I will work hard and become a great student like you and I will definitely enter the top class.” I smiled as I passed those words.

My brother looked at me suddenly with a shock. He got up immediately and rushed towards me. He grabbed my collar and pulled me up. Since I was too little at that time, I got lifted up a little. He then kneeled down while holding the collar tight.

“Don’t you dare to even think about doing it,” He said while he was facing downwards but I could easily see his eyes rolled up towards me.

I got frightened and was not able to say even a word. He let go of my collar and got stunned there for a minute.

At first I thought to get away from him but when I looked at him, that sight got me. He had tears flowing through his face. I had never seen him crying before.

He got up, moved towards his bag and put it on his shoulders while I kept looking at him.

“Tell father that I left. I have met mom.” He then paused for a minute and then continued, “Don’t try to get into that class. It’s an advice from your brother.”

He turned, opened the door and applied the spell to himself and got teleported after a strike of green lightning.
