Chapter 1: The Voice
Running......
I’m running for my life in a woods that I’m not too sure of where Im going. But....
I am running and I don’t know why. No matter how I try to stop my legs and feet, it seems that they have a mind of thie own. I feel liquid that’s trailing down my cheeks under my eyes. They’re tears..... Why am I crying?
“Where am I?” I thought to myself. But then, an unfamiliar voice pulls me out of my mind.
“Maddie stop! I know you’re hurting!” The voice was very faded but it almost sound like a man.
I get even more confused than ever before. Hurting? I looked down at my feet and I saw that I was now limping. I couldn’t feel the pain even though I should be. But that voice, where did it come from? How does he know my name? Am I being chased by some mad man? Is that why I’m running?
I try to look back to see where who or what was calling me, but my head just kept looking straight forward. My mood went from confusion to scared. I had no command over my body. I try to scream for help but they just came out as cries and sobs.
Then out of nowhere, a huge tree stump appears in front of my way. My mind tells me to go around it, but my legs refused to.
“Maddie stop right now!” The masculine voice said.
I watched in horror as my legs were six feet away from the huge stump. I closed my eyes ready to feel the big impact but then, my legs leaped over the stump. I open my eyes in relief but that was a bit too soon....
Landing on the ground, my limped foot lost balance and I slipped backwards. I yelp in fright as I fell.
“MADDIE!” The voice yells and then it slowly fades away.
Still screaming, it took me awhile to realize that I was standing. My screaming fades as I open my eyes and I saw that I was no longer in the woods. I finally had control over my body, looked around, and there was nothing but darkness.
I looked at what I was wearing and it was a white, v-neck dress and I couldn’t but adore it! I noticed that my hair was pulled back into a low bun, but that wasn’t the major difference.
It was my skin.....
I looked at it in amazement because it was something I haven’t seen in a long time. Clear, soft, and beautiful. All my bruises were removed. I looked at my legs and all the knife cuts, scrapes, and bruises were gone!
I touched my skin and a sensation went through my body! My skin was as soft as a cloud. My finger caress my arm going up and down whilst the enjoying the moment. The negativity goes away quickly and I was completely at ease.
“Maaaaadiiiiieeeee.” The voice drags my name but this voice was different. It was a feminine voice. It almost sounds familiar.....
I put my head up urgently, “Hello?”
“Maddie.” The voice repeats my name.
“W-who are y-you?!” I stuttered from fear, “Show y-yourself!”
The voice chuckled at my comment.
I squint my eyes through the darkness and saw nothing. “I’m sorry, I can’t do that....” the female voice paused, “yet.”
I pounce from fear, “Yet?” I questioned.
“Yes, I don’t have very much time with you. I came with a message.”
“A message?” I said curiously.
“Yes. The message says that today, you will find someone that will end all your suffering and brings you peace.”
“Someone?” My eyes widened.
“It will be someone that is full of kindness in his heart. There is still hope Madison.” The voice.
“Hope?” I whispered.
Hope.....
The word I didn’t believe that it exist for the past five years.... A tear escaped my eye hearing this overwhelming news.
“I need to go now.” The voice said.
“Wait. What?” I said in surprise. “Right now?”
“Yes, that is all I need to say.” The feminine voice said.
“Will we m-meet again?”
The voice paused for a moment”Maybe....”
“Can I know your name?”
“No, but you’ll find out soon.” The voice reassured me. “Now, wake up Maddie.”
“What?” I said in confusion.
“Wake up Maddie. WAKE UP!”
***
“Maddie I swear to God! If you don’t wake up, I will report this to your father!”
I flutter my eyes open seeing that I am back in my bed. I blink two times with shock realizing that it was just a dream. A dream?
A sad expression fell on my face knowing that it was just a dream.
I knew it was to good to be true....
“Madison Walker wake up right this instant!” Lindsey says snotty. I realize that Lindsey was trying to wake me up. Lindsey is 19 years old and she is one of my least favorite maids. She knows about my abuse so she takes advantage of it. If I do something that doesn’t please her, she’ll tell father and my father will punish me. She’s like a evil stepmother and the other maids are my evil stepsisters.
“W-what?” I said still drowsy.
“Did you wake up deaf or something?! Wake up right now!” She punches me in my bruised arm and I groaned in pain.
“Please stop, I’m up.” I said in despair.
“Good! But that doesn’t mean I will not tell your father!” She grinned menacingly. She stomped out of my room and shut the door.
