"Kayla, " said Mr. Stewards said. I just rolled my eyes, how many times have we been through this? To many to count.
"We've talked about this," he said, he sat across from me, in the same leather chair he always did. Did he ever leave his office? Did he ever do anything but work? Everyday he sat in the same office, either at his desk or in the leather chair.
But did it matter to me what he did with his life? Not really.
"Kayla!" he raised his voice and I finally snapped back.
"What?!" He gave a disappointing look.
"You will not yell at me," he said sternly, I just rolled my eyes.
"For as long as you live here, you will live under my rules," he said, but I wasn't really listening. I've heard this conversation so many times, I could recite it like the back of my hand.
"Kayla Sweards-"
"Martin," I cored before he could finish, "I am Kayla Alice Martin," I said and I could see the anger in his eyes build up.
"Now," I began standing up, "I'll excuse myself," I said leaving. I walked the empty halls. The only sound was my sandals on the marble floor.
The house was big, but I knew my way around it well enough. I've been here for how long? I don't really know since I was blessed with the memory of dory.
"Alice, " called a high-pitched voice that I swore was going to damage my ears one day. I mentally cursed to myself, I really should have walked faster.
I didn't bother to muster a smile, "What do you want Mr. Alexandra?" I snapped and she looked at me like I was crazy. "It's not wise to use that tone with me," she said, I only rolled my eyes. "Like I said before, do you need something? Maybe another pound of makeup? Sorry I don't think more makeup will cover that monstrosity on your face," I say in an irritated tone. She always managed to get on my nerves like this.
"No, and I'm sure your makeup wouldn't suffice, I only use high brand stuff," she bragged, I only rolled my eyes again before opened her mouth, "There will be a new student in your school, he's of high profile, so be a proper lady in front of him would you?" she said. Yes, there would be a new student. Just another student that would flaunt what million dollar watch his dad had bought him, and another guy to think that he is oh so popular, but really is only like for his money.
I didn't bother to reply, I just continued down the halls like I had before occasionally taking turns or opening a door.
I eventually made it to the roof, which was much more calming than my room, where maids were just going to bother me about 'dressing up', or 'doing maleup'
I honestly had no time for that.
"I don't really fit in anywhere, and I don't really have a home."
"Then let me be your home."
