The Shadow of the Night
There is more evil in the world before man than anyone could ever imagine. Evils in the form of great and terrifying monsters that no words can truly describe. But even when description fails, there must be a name, and Kaurr Uak is what was chosen. No one knows the full scope of what lies beyond the veil that covers this world from their gaze. Most of the greater Kaurr Uak--the Kaurruss--ignore this place, content to rest motionless in Kaurr Kirsrar, their home. But there are a great many of them that live out there, and some of them, when curiosity and restlessness drives them to look close enough, see through the thin cover and into the delicate and vulnerable world within.
These things are more powerful than anything else humans have ever seen. They are certain there is nothing stronger. They fear for their lives. Most have fallen already. Corrupted, killed, or twisted to the side of the Kaurr Uak. One tribe remains. They call themselves the Urae, and they are all that is left of humanity. But they are not helpless against this threat.
The thing that made us gave us goodness. Not moral goodness, but true goodness. The Urae call it Suudakk. It is the light of purity that shines against the darkness and pushes it away until there is nothing for the darkness to hide behind. It is the flame of righteousness that burns away all corruption until there is nothing left of any evil. We are the Bresrs Kera. The Bright Fire. We each have a small piece of Suudakk that shines and burns, and we each burn and shine ourselves. We are attuned to this world. Where the Kaurr Uak fight with corrupted nature, we fight with purity. We protect humanity as it grows and strengthens itself. We may look like humans, but we are so much more than that.
But despite it all, we are dying. The one that made us, the Roaeo, has vanished, and no matter where we look, we cannot find any trace. This will be our last victory or our final defeat. We each carry a stone given to us by the Roaeo that let us use our power. it is called the Raors Iavar. We are not unarmed. Our Bossra Saor--weapons and armor enchanted by our Raors Iavar us well in battle, and we will not stop until the last of us has fallen, or the Urae are finally free of the Kaurr Uak forever.
