Chapter 1: All things according to plan

In the small pixelated town of Greenville, life was the life of a regular human being, but weird things occur in this town. The population is constantly increased and decreased like someone was meddling with the scale. The town was ruled strictly by Mayor Eridessa. Laws were placed left and right faster than anyone could even understand. Our tale starts off at the House of the Crows, the home of Larissa Jones.

The House of Crows was a mansion on the outskirts. Leaving cell service to be spotty. House of Crows is a frightening house that looks like it was copied and pasted directly from a movie. The roads leading to the mansion were slim and hardly driven on. Outside the mansion bricks looked washed away and all the flowers were either dying or dead. Inside the mansion was a grand stair case leading into the main hall. Where the sun shines in from the rose glass window. The mansion was the oldest building in town and because of it’s frightening appearance visitors and town members tended to stay away from the mansion. The Jones family has lived in the mansion for over 100 years. Also, not to mention the house was originally built for a morgue.

Larissa hurries down the grand staircase hurrying to get to the school bus before it left the end of her deserted street.

“Oh shoot, if I miss the bus again my parents will kill me!” Larissa says with a sad tone. She hurries out the down without remembering to grab a quick bite to eat. She runs down the pathway noticing the bus starting to leave. She starts sprinting harder and making more off an effort to get to the bus. She glances quickly at her watch assuming the bus is early. She looks up from her watch with a small frown. She arrives to the bus stop and hops onto the front seat quickly.

“That was a close one, Larissa” The bus driver says with a sarcastic tone.

“Trust me, I know” Larissa says from her seat directly behind the bus driver. She stares out the window and looks at the interesting sights that cannot be seen from the walls barricading the mansion. As the bus pulls into the parking lot, Larissa felt a sudden jerk forward. She quickly steps off the bus stair and walks to her locker. She unplugs her tablet from the charger in her locker and grabs her binder out of her backpack. She then puts her backpack into her locker and starts heading to her classroom. She grabs her seat in the back-left corner of the classroom and starting, copying down the information on the board. Her teacher, Ms. Margert swiftly enters the classroom with her head held high and ready to teach her class of wild students.

“Students, today we are going to be learning about the history of Greenville” She says with confidence in her voice. Nobody answers they just nod in agreement. As the day goes on students of all ages start coming and going from the Greenville academy.

As the school day comes to an end, Larissa walked to her locker and plugged her tablet back into the wall and slammed the locker door shut. Shortly, the bus pulled into the parking lot and Larissa jumped into the front seat directly behind the bus driver and quickly submerged into a conversation with our bus driver.

“How was school today, Kid”

“Short, as usual and I still didn’t make any friends” That was her usual response and the conversation usually ended after that because the driver had to focus on the road and not a conversation. The bus drops Larissa off at the street just a few blocks away from the road leading down to the mansion. She walked down the barely used path and climbed up the stairs into the mansion. When she arrived, she ran up the grand stair case and on the left side her bedroom door was propped open just the way she liked it. She walked into her bedroom with a smile on her face. Her cat Hugo was laying on the bed as he usually was when Larissa returned from home. As she entered her bedroom, she closed the door shut and threw her backpack onto her bed.

“Hugo, you are the cutest cat I have ever seen” She says as she starts petting the cat. Hugo acknowledges the comment and purrs back calmly in a way that seemed like a response. Larissa’s father peaks into the door and walks in quietly.

“How did your day go, honey?” He says in an upbringing tone. Larissa looks up trying to determine whether she has the patience to answer him, but she decides not to be rude and reply with a sarcastic tone.

“My day was fine Dad, It was just like every other day…” She hesitates before saying the next part of her sentence but decides to say it before risking getting in more trouble.

“Besides the part where I may have almost missed the bus” She blurts out quickly. Her father says nothing, but he walked toward the door and left the room.

As terrible as Larissa felt she knew that if she were to chase after her father, she would just upset him more. She slammed her face into her pillow and started to feel the tears starting to fall from her eyes. Hugo slowly crawled onto her back trying to give her support that a person could only receive from their pet. Hugo nudged his face against Larissa’s face trying to calm her down. He leapt of the bed and walked over to his water bowel as Larissa started to lift her face off her pillow.

“Why do I have to ruin everything” She says hoping for someone to hear her and come in and calm her nerves. She turned her head to look at the door, to see if anyone was there. No one was there so she slammed her head into the pillow again. Her mother peaked into the door noticing her daughter’s upset status. Her mother enters the room and goes to Larissa’s side.

“What is the matter, Honey?” Her mother says with a sympathetic tone. Larissa looks up at her mother, wiping the tears from her eyes.

“I almost missed the bus again and Dad was so upset he isn’t even speaking to me.” Her mother doesn’t reply she just gives Larissa a big comforting hug. Her mother then gets up off the bed and starts walking toward the door.

“I will call when dinner is ready” She says in the same sympathetic tone. She then exits the room with a small smile on her face. Larissa hears her mother walk down the grand staircase. She then hears the loud sound of the parlor door closing. She then raises her head from the pillow and starts to lift herself off the bed. She then walked over to Hugo’s food bowl and filled the empty steel bowl with cat food. She heard the echo of Mayor Eridessa’s voice from the television inside of the dining room. She then looked over at the clock resting on top of her dresser.

“Oh crap, It’s seven. Dad already has a reason to kill me but if I missed the Mayors nightly news announcement. I would be dead for sure.”

She quickly ran down the stairs and entered the dining room. She jumped into her seat, moments before her father entered the room. As he entered the room, he carried a large platter of food and place it onto the dining room table. Then he quietly turned his body, so he was facing Larissa.

“Larissa, can you go into the parlor and help your mother finish up dinner.” He said trying to contain his anger toward his daughter. Larissa nodded to acknowledge her father and got up off her seat and headed up the grand stair case and walked into the parlor door. As she entered the room her mother started pointing at plates that needed to be brought into the dining room. Larissa walked toward the dishes and picked up as many as she could and started carrying them into the dining room. as she approached the dining room her arm started aching from carrying the mass amount of food. She walks faster toward the table and quickly put the dishes onto the table preventing her from dropping them onto the floor. She walked over to the counter and grabbed three sets of silverware. She started placing the silverware on the table when she heard the unusual sound of the doorbell ringing. At first, she did not know what the sound was because hardly anyone visited her home, let alone ring the doorbell.
