A Beginning Of A Story...
“Markus, are you really going to the academy?”
Markus was immediately swarmed helplessly by classmates as soon as he stepped one foot on the wooden floorboards of the class doors. As a huge number of students, particularly girls, came up to him in admiration, he’s peachy face immediately blushed up in an explosion of pinkish-red.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t get the hype of Leia Academy...” Markus responded shyly and confused with a scratching arm on his chocolate-brown hair while a drop of sweat flowed down his ‘tomato’ cheeks. Without a slight stop, practically the long, school hall was filled with shocked gasps and loud “What!?” that almost made the other pupils to jump from that loud blast of sounds.
“How could you not know!? It’s like, so famous! Well, I understand if you’re...you know, poor and whatsoever...” the rest of the girl’s words were ignored by Markus. Of course, the typical ignorance of Markus would never remember or even try read or study about any information of whatever places he would be going. Sometimes, it could be the death of him.
“Alright, alright. Back to your seats!”
The loud orders of Ms. Lidya left students scurrying to their class seats throughout the class room from surrounding Markus. Markus too speed-walked to his wooden seat that was positioned beside the large window overlooking the vast, green field, empty and silent with a large, green forest situated idly on the sides of the field, which Markus practically remembered the entire layout of, after sitting there for months boringly staring outside blankly.
Finally, after everyone seated themselves, Ms. Lidya opened her dry, dead lips. “Before starting lessons, let’s give a moment of applause for Mr. Andrew for finally evading my classes.” After that obvious sarcasm, everyone laughed humorously and clapped loudly for Zack’s yet again blushing face, his dark freckles burning up with it on both sides of his face.
After a while, it dies down slowly. “Now that’s over, let’s get this over with. Flip to page 86, explaining the meaning about transpiration of plants.”
The sound of paper flipping loudly echoed through the white-painted room. Blocking the strong voice of the talking teacher in front that was busy writing down notes on the black board, he looks blankly at the image-filled textbook of green leaves with glowing droplets on it, thinking and imagining the scenes and people in his new future...
The mid-noon sun slants over the blue, cloud-filled horizon with it’s rays burning the dry grounds of Crawford High. Students ran around the vast grounds and different-shaped blocks of buildings wildly soon after the loud, deafening bell rang throughout the institute...
At a shady, dark corner of the wide-sized high school, an eerie silhouette peeked from a grey, bricked wall, looking at the students with their typical, childish personality. To the shadow, it was sickening and disgusting to see them able to do things he can’t. Which, was what motivated this sudden gloom to approach this place...
As he looks with much hate and resentment, a snap of a twig makes it turn around fiercely, it’s crimson-red eyes aimed at the source. But instead of expecting a figure of some sort, it was just a brown, furry squirrel that scurried off in a hurry after falling from a broken-off stick of a large, leaf-jumbled wood.
After ensuring nothing else behind, the gas-like shadow continued his uncanny red stare, it’s black, smokey body bursting with deep hate and jealousy. If it wasn’t for another loud bell, he would’ve lash out and going violent, risking to expose himself.
“You’re fast , Ghoul!”
An existence of a tired, panting aura that glowed positively throughout the eerie, dark corridor, pulled the stalking gas’s slight attention, but the gloomy entity was still looking at the playful children on the field. But even if occupied, he still answered to the light, disembodied voice behind him with his somehow echoing tone. “I wouldn’t be surprised if you were slower than me too.”
“Hey! It’s not me that decided to have long arms instead of your gaseous features!” the voice speaks with a cheerful, complaining tone. “Anyway, don’t forget the mission here. do you even remember what we’re suppose to be looking out for!?,” the girly voice continued irritated and annoyed after the ghost gave the ‘silent treatment’ to the now frustrated lady. “Why do you always be like this...” the girl continued with a pitiful and, yet again, a childish voice.
Of course, Ghoul’s ignorant attitude always made anyone closer to him becoming from ‘attracted’ to ‘evaded’. But, the typical shadow’s annoying personality, was to not know the situation happening around him, which he has accomplish till the present time. But still, his self-described annoying and small-tempered friend, teammate and colleague always finds a way to make him change a bit of his ill-caused attitude one way or another. He turns back to face the now tear-falling, upset and sobbing team member, Sierra, with a rare guilty look, ’Look, I-I’m sorry....It’s just that I fee-----”
Suddenly, a loud, deafening sound that shook the ground breaks the two’s focuses against each other. And with that sound, a long trail of jet black smoke immediately masked the once clear-blue sky to an overcast hell. And if that wasn’t devastating enough, hundreds of terrified and panicked students rushed out of the numerous doors of the different blocks in the institute’s area, some seemingly to even have small, bleeding injuries on their body and crimson-red blood on they’re plain-white uniforms.
“What did you do, Sierra!?” the shocked shadow roared fiercely at the nervous and also shocked-looking girl giving an obvious shrug in response to what Ghoul just bellowed to her. “How am I suppose to know? Does my face look like there is an answer?” she argued back, shocked to see that the last upcoming ‘sorry’ response from him disappeared to a fierce scolding.
Before they could plunge back into a journey of arguments about whoever knows what, a sudden sound of a ringtone placed a wall them between them before they started throwing words at each other again (which could lead to a more disastrous consequence).
The two quickly pressed their ears, where a miniature, cyan blue device sat on their earlobes. As the two simultaneously compress onto a smaller button, a very squeaky, high-pitched voice came from the other end of the line.
“Team Decker , do you copy.” the mouse-like voice started. “Loud and clear, Headquarters,” Ghoul continued after Sierra’s firm response. “Are you seeing what we’re seeing, HQ?”
“Yes, it seems that intelligence from the British Branch was correct, which means the mission has been interfered by a third party,” the speaker continued as the two use their energy to resist the panic inside them, “You’re objectives have changed and you are tasked to investigate what is happening, engage any enemy you come across, but without killing them!”
The two looked at each other with the sense of slight surprise to the phrase ‘Third Party’. Not only that, they were not expecting themselves to end up in this sudden mess. But without stop, the voice continued slightly shaking but still steadily, “We have sent Team Catastrophe to deal with this sudden emergency, 10 minutes away from you’re current location. Before then, you are ordered to terminate any opponents, to border the area and, if able, investigate and gather any indicative evidence around the radius of the explosion.”
After the long orders from the ‘higher platforms’, the two nodded at each other. And with the last phrase of ‘HQ out’, the mouse-like voice disappears into silence and the line get cuts off. Ghoul and Sierra looked at each other and gave shrugs. “Shall we?” Ghoul answered with more energy and a cheeky grin, “We shall.”
And after that short dialogue between them, they left the dark alleyway and rushed to the scene, pushing away the gasping students and gossiping teachers that managed to evacuate the buildings.
Without much time, Team Decker makes their way to the scene of disaster...
