"You didn't fight him back? Why? He deserved it after doing all this," I gesture at Ace, "over just seeing us together."
"Because I already won." He gargled his words through his busted lip, he looked in so much pain. I ran my fingers lightly over his wound like I did with all of them. I brushed a black lock of hair back from his face.
"What do you mean?" I lock eyes with him. A devilish smirk played across his lips.
"You already know." He states but it only makes me more confused. Whatever he was saying I wasn't catching on to.
"What are you talking about Novak?"
His smirk deepens, his eyes shined with someone rare, they had a special glint to them. "You're all mine Preciosa."
Evelyn O'Connor's life on the outside was perfect but dig a little deeper and you know it was anything but that. She was a strong, stubborn, and lost girl with problems for days. Her family problems felt never ending and she felt like every time she got close to someone they were taken away from her. The only possible people in her life to make her happy anymore were her 3 best friends.
Ace Novak thought of death as second nature. He grew up around it his whole life along with growing up in nothing but a damaged childhood. People ask why he acts the way he does but with the burdens and demons following him, you would act the same. He doesn't get close to people, he blocked everyone off with his barriers that are up 24/7 and he almost never shows his emotion.

Because the second he sees Evelyn everything in his past comes hurdling back towards him along with new feelings both of them thought they would never have again. But both of them knew, after they first met, everything was fair game.
