Protesting, she was tipsy... I didn’t dare to devour her until this moment. Undoubtedly, sanity began to drift away... “Over the sea of sorrow under the bliss of moonlight, I took of from the land that choked me till I shed blood instead of tears; the whisper of a new devil didn’t miss out my range of audition. I knew I had made a choice to ride this horrifying rollercoaster. Little did I know what beheld the ride.”

Chapter 1

*“Don’t leave me...” dad whispered.

Sara sighed, “I tried, but I can’t be a nurse instead of a wife.”

Dad lunged towards Sara and fell on his knees; I covered Dana’s eyes and ears as much as I could... a five year old could only take so much.

“Sara, you don’t have to nurse me, I can survive without care but I can’t survive without you, my love...”

Sara threw the vase next to her as soon as dad caught a grasp of her feet, turned her heels around and ran...*

Whip, whip, whip.

What is this sound? The sound penetrated my ears till it pulled my eyes open. That must be Dana. My legs were tired to stones to deal with my sisters but had no choice for any sake. I dragged myself to her door and knocked on it. Five minutes passed away like that, she still didn’t open.

“Dana, open the door or I’ll break in!” I yelled.

She didn’t respond, yet the whipping intensified. I broke in before my thoughts got mordacious, I couldn’t tell what my sister might be up to.

I looked around her room only to find out she wasn’t there. I ran towards the patio door and tried to slide the patio door open to no avail.

“Dana! What are you doing? Why is there a whipping sound? What are you up to? Just answer if you don’t want the door broken, I can’t pay for another one.”

I took a few steps back before I hurled forwards when the door slid open to reveal Dana, with gleaming beads of sweat all over her, a skipping rope in her hand. I didn’t have time to think anymore before I fell on my face... I was never more thankful for my sister’s ugly, grungy balcony garden... my face was buried into soil...

A disheartening laughter brought me up to my feet; I stood in front of her, time ticking away, yet she didn’t stop laughing. I wasn’t going to let it slide. I took a step closer to her, which was enough to taper away the laughter; her eyes grew bigger and bigger. I rubbed my face on her sweaty cheeks before she could even process anything.

“You ugly brother! You’re a hideous man.” She cried.

“So you were skipping... I couldn’t sleep because of you!”

“Did your clock die? Do you know it’s 10 in the morning?”

“Whatever may be the time... you’re just not allowed to break my sleep when I’m sleeping...”

“Oh, right. You only gave that right to your psycho girlfriend. Isn’t she the reason why you’re sleeping the day away?”

“Listen, brat, you can’t talk like that. And Lia is not a psycho.”

“Of course, she isn’t, you are!”

That just got on my nerves... Dana is ill-natured and it’s getting worse everyday.

“Dana, you’re grounded for a week from now, I can’t tolerate this sort of behaviour from you, you should...”

She pushed me away before I could finish lecturing and hurried to the bathroom.

I cussed under my breath. My sister needed to be taught a lesson.

Mom, dad... where are you when I need you the most?

Maybe I never needed you, what I need is you to clean up the mess you made and leave me out of it.
