and then he walked in...
I was expecting this to be a normal day.
My life is honestly so boring and repetitive, I wouldn’t expect anything to be different. My twin sister, Ava, has the most adventurous and exciting life there is. With her dream boyfriend and perfect grades, there’s never a dull moment in her life. Me on the other hand, with my stupid unrealistic crush and average grades, I would gladly be her for a day.
Being the theater geek and the choir nerd that I am, I’ve never really expected guys to even notice me and I’ve never really payed attention to them in return...until now.
Like I said, I expected this to be a pretty average day. I had just gotten to theater and was sitting with my best friend Laura. We are complete opposites.
She has a boyfriend who’s mom is the basketball coach. Laura is actually the prettiest girl alive and every guy falls head over heels for her.
Me? I’ve only ever been asked out once and it was a complete and utter mistake and I swear Landon hates me now. We were best friends and we would text everyday, and then he stopped caring about me and we haven’t talked since. He’s in my theater this year along with...
Back to Laura. I don’t know how I got so lucky with her. She claims she thought I was the popular girl who would never notice her! She’s completely insane to think that, but that’s why we’re best friends. If she wasn’t insane, she would never begin to even think about talking to someone like me.
I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself. My name’s Elizabeth Jones. but all my friends call me Ella or Ellie. I have a twin sister named Ava. (Remember her from earlier? The one with the really exciting life?) I’m in advanced choir and intermediate theater. I guess I could’ve been in advanced theater, but that’s musical theater and I’m not the outgoing type to sing solo’s in front of people. Sure, I perform (yes, perform) in the shower, but that’s different. Actual people are much scarier than shampoo bottles.
I guess I’m athletic. I run track with a mile time of 7:45 and a 100 meter time of 13 seconds. Ava and Laura run track too, but I’m not sure they enjoy it as much as I do. My dad was almost an Olympic runner, but he stopped sprinting to pursue a career in being a doctor. He’s all about healthy bodies and that stuff so we’re forced to do some kind of sport. I chose to do track, while Ava was kinda forced to do it.

While Mrs. Hill was explaining the new improv game we would be playing, me and Laura were goofing off, as usual, but I don’t think she was paying much attention to me. She was probably too busy staring at her boyfriend Easton.
He’s the quarterback of the football team and is so nice. I’m really happy for her, but lately, it seems like he’s more important than me. We promised boys would never get in the way of our friendship so I’m probably just overthinking this.
I didn’t think I would ever have to deal with a boy because like I said, I’m not the most attractive or the funniest person alive and I definitely don’t have a personality like Laura but I guess I was wrong...
We all stood in a circle and began stretching. Landon and his best friend Joseph led while the rest of us followed along. Landon is a popular kid and so is his best friend. Joseph is pretty nice, but probably thinks poorly of me because of the rumors Landon started about me.
We played the new game and me and my group did pretty bad. Landon and his group of friends (Joseph, Jackson, Lucas, and Logan) of course did the best AND it was definitely the funniest. Jackson and him made it into production (which I’m not surprised) and I’m kind of sad because Jackson is my best guy friend, so we won’t have theatre together next year, but I’m happy for him, he totally deserves it.
Me and Jackson’s relationship isn’t as strong as Landon and I’s last year, but I’m scared to have that again because I cant handle something similar. I don’t have any guy friends except for him because after that whole scenario, I didn’t trust very many boys, but he’s just so nice, I couldn’t not be friends with him.
I know what you’re thinking. “I bet she likes him”. I did.. but he told Laura he didn’t like anyone so I knew then that I had no chance with him. Plus, it could effect our friendship, and I’m really grateful for what we have and wouldn’t wanna risk losing it.

We sat back down waiting to play the next new improv game, when a knock came from the door across the room. The knock itself was nothing new since it was a fairly large class and items from the office or class passes were dropped of semi often, but it was what was behind the door that was spectacular. We all turned our head, hoping to be the one that got to go home early, and then he walked in...
