Chapter 1
Chaos is as it comes, noise, mess, headaches- I could get past the chaos, but why the hell did I do a business degree again? I've been in college for five months now and its been the worst five months of my life-
"Gabs I need to leave now, can I use the car for today I promise I'll be back before you have to leave." Sasha is the definition of spontaneous, she's been my best friend for five years and been my rock for the past five months.
"Yeah Sash go ahead, I'm going to the cafe anyway." I didn't bother looking up from my laptop as I handed her my car keys. About half an hour later I packed up my things before I made my way out the front door, but came to a halt when my house phone rang-
"I'll just let it go to voicemail."
It was only a ten minute walk to the local cafe and even though it was late October it wasn't all that cold yet. I could feel the heated stares on me as I walked by the basketball court, I remembered what I threw on today, a red tartan pleated skirt, cropped white jumper and my white tennis shoes. I was told that I was hot ever since I hit puberty but I never really seen it, Sasha was much more prettier than me so I never understood why guys feel at my feet.
Before I knew it I was making my to the corner table inside joli café. Time flew by and before I knew it I was half way through finishing my term paper.
"Can I get you anything else ma'am?" I looked up to the cute waiter who couldn't take his eyes off me, I can admit he was cute but I couldn't be dating right now.
"No I'm fine thank you, its nice of you to ask even after I told that other waitress the same thing." His cheeks tinged pink as his eyes scanned anywhere else but me. I gathered my things and payed the bill.
I noticed it was already dark out, I cant walk back the way I came cause Sasha's always saying that's when the gangs come out. Pfft gangs, Sasha watches too much tv. Before I could make any decision about how to get home my phone rang.
"Hey mum." My mum was my bestfriend, it was only me, my two protective twin older brothers and her, my dad walked out on us when I was five, he cheated on her with his assistant... his male assistant. She promised that after the first five months of him leaving her she was over it, until she trashed his entire office which caused us we to move out of town.
"Hows my only daughter, my only child that is doing something right with her life." I heard groans and shouts from the other end of the phone, my brothers were only 18 months older than me, my dad passed down the business to them almost a year ago but mum seems to think that they should find their own jobs without any help.
"Mum go easy on them, their supporting you, I know you hate dad and his company but the boys love it. Let them take care of you, I'm not there to whoop them into shape so let them take care of you mama." I said with a giggle,
"See listen to her, that's the first smart thing she's ever said in her whole 19 years of living." I heard a gruff voice shout. Danny, of course it was Danny- me and my brothers always fought but me and Daniel fought on every occasion but I loved him to guts.
"I don't have time for your stupidity Daniel I'm walking home-
"YOUR WALKING HOME?!" I was cut off by my other brother - Sam shouting down the end of the phone, before I could even respond to his comment my phone died. Huh, oh well.
I kept walking for another five minutes to realise that I was lost. God talking to my family made me lose my sense of direction, before I could even think about where to go I ended up walking into something that I never wanted to set eyes on in my life.
A girl
on her knees
while a guy had his jeans around his ankles.
"Oh you got to be kidding me."
"Gabby come on it was nothing- I owed him a favour and plus it was fun." That was the excuse my best friend Sasha gave me for her getting caught on her knees for some guy, yup Sasha was the girl on her knees in the alley. Me and Sasha have been best friends for a while and since I could remember Sasha has always been a- how can I say it?
"I know your secretly calling me a hoe Gabrielle." That's the word- I looked over at her before making my way to the kitchen. I quickly threw in some frozen pizza in the oven, kicked back on the sofa- well that's what I wanted to do until the house phone started to ring.
"Hello?" I was halfway listening to the phone call and halfway watching Sasha put on a tight tank top and high waist booty shorts.
"Gabby are you even listening to me?"
"What who is this?"
"Its me pumpkin." My breathing hitched at the childhood nickname my dad used to call me.
"Hey dad, not in a totally non caring way but why are you calling me?" My dad always called me every month since he left and sent me $200 every two weeks but I haven't seen him since my 16th birthday.
"I just wanted to see how you are pumpkin, I miss you." Yeah I barely grew up with my dad but I knew whenever he used the nickname pumpkin he always wanted something from me, like the time when I was three and caught him touching himself to our mailman and begged me not to tell my mum.
"Dad, I'm kinda in a hurry me and Sasha are going out so-" I heard him sigh, oh God I don't have time for bad news.
"Erm, me and Mickey are getting married in three months in Ohio and I've tried contacting your mother and brothers but I cant seem to reach them. Me and Mickey want you guys there, it will mean the world to us." I hated what my dad did to my mum, but I loved him to bits- I let out a heavy sigh before speaking-
"I'm going home next weekend, I'll break the news to them then." I didn't get to hear what my dad said because Sasha threw a tight black dress in my face before yelling-
"Party time bitch!"
