Chapter 1

“Ivy hurry up! We’re gonna be late.” my mom says.

“Oh my god gimme a break. I literally told you less than thirty seconds ago that I would be down soon.” I mumble.

“I’m sorry what was that?”

“Oh nothing. I was just a little frustrated that I couldn’t tie my shoe.” I laugh awkwardly and stand up. I’m pretty stupid for not seeing that my mom was standing in front of the entrance to my room.

“Okay because I thought I heard you talking back.” She rolled her eyes and walked away.

“Me? Talking back? Very bold of you to assume that I would ever do something like that.” I laughed to myself and walked downstairs. My mom and I were going shopping. She already has enough clothes, but I think shopping has been her coping mechanism ever since my dad left her. I love both of my parents, but they just weren’t for each other. Some say opposites attract, but I say that only happens with magnets.

“I’m going to find some new heels so you can just wander around the mall if you would like. Just remember not to talk to strangers. And please don’t get kidnapped. With your sister off at college, I couldn’t bare to live alone. I also wouldn’t have anyone to drag me out of the stores.” My mom smiled as she talked.

“Yep got it mom. Call me when you’re done okay?” I walked away before she could say anything else. I know she would mad at me later for it, but I didn’t really care at this point. I decided to walk into Victoria’s Secret because my friend Hannah works there. I always felt awkward whenever I was in there. It always felt like the employees were judging me. Like yeah I know I’m not super pretty or anything, but that doesn’t give you the right to say I can’t shop here.

“Ivyyyyyyyy. Babe I missed you oh my god. How have you been?” Hannah says as she walks over to me.

“I don’t know I’ve been better.” I say sighing.

“So no, ‘babe I miss you’?” She asks.

“Ugh I’m sorry. I missed you babe. Is that better?” I say rolling my eyes.

“Hey look asshole don’t get short with me. I’m your best friend so act like it. Also don’t look behind you, but this really hot dude just walked in and I’m feeling confident.“. Hannah says laughing.

“Oh my god not again. He probably has a girlfriend.” I say. I’m eager to know what he looks like though so I turn around. “Holy shit you were right. He’s a whole buffet.” I say and turn back around.

“So anyways are you looking for anything today? This would look great on you.” She smirks and speaks loud enough for the whole store to hear as she picks up a revealing lace bra.

“Hannah what the hell are you doing!” I whisper shout.

“I’m getting you this guys number obviously. Oh my god he just smiled. Dude you should’ve seen it. He looks like he was crafted by the gods. So when you feel comfortable, look up.”

I hesitantly look up, afraid of what’s to come. Once my head is all the way up, the mysterious hot man looks over and winks at me. “He... he just winked at me. Hannah oh my god.” I whisper. “Oh my god Hannah he’s walking over here. What do I do.”

“Act normal dumbass.”

“Hi ladies. I just had a question for you.” The hot man says and points to me.

“M... m... me?” I stutter. Hannah kicks my leg discreetly.

“Yeah you.” He laughs.

“Uh yeah sure ask away. Actually I don’t work here so I probably won’t be able to help much, but I can try.” I give him an awkward smile.

“Well lucky for you, my question doesn’t require you to work here.” He smiles.

“Oh well then in that case, what can I help you with?” I smile back.

“I was just wondering if I could get your number?” He says.

“w...what?” I look at Hannah for help, but she ignores me.

“I gotta get back to work, but it was nice talking to you both. Love you babe.” Hannah blows a kiss at me. God I hate her sometimes.

“Oh are you guys dating?” He says confused.

“What? Me and Hannah? Oh no we’re just friends.” I awkwardly laugh.

“Oh well in that case, can I get your number?”

“Uh yeah sure I guess.” I say as he reaches into his pocket for his phone.

“Oh by the way, my name’s Jackson.”

“Ivy.”

“Ivy” He repeats “I like that.” He says and walks away.

Today was honestly weird. Guys never talk to me so it was weird to have one asking for my number. Just as I’m about to go to sleep, I get a text from Hannah.

Babe <3: So how did things go with Mr. Hot Dude?

Babe<3: Did you get his number?

Me: Yeah I got his number

Babe<3: Aaaand? Have you guys talked?

Me: No we haven’t

Babe<3: Why are you acting so cold?

Babe<3: I had to get back to work

Babe<3: And I didn’t want to interrupt you guys

Babe<3: Look baby I’m sorry

Babe<3: actually I lied I’m not sorry

Me: I hate you with a passion

Babe<3: Ouch that hurt :(

Me: It was probably just a dare

Babe<3: Come on Ivy stop being so negative

Babe<3: I’m sure he’s just busy or something

Me: I gtg to sleep gn

Babe<3: Ok gn baby I love you mwah

I set my phone down on my side table and start to think But my thoughts were soon interrupted by my phone once again. I began to wonder what Hannah wanted now until I saw that the text was from Jackson. I debated whether I should read and respond to the text or just delete his number. Deleting his number sounded the best to me, but I began to think, ‘what would Hannah do?’. So I grabbed my phone and unlocked it.

Jackson: Hey cutie ;)

Me: Hey what’s up

Jackson: So no, ‘hey handsome’?

Me: Idek you lmao

Jackson: So then get to know me

Me: Um ok. Where do I start?

Jackson: Wherever you want ;)

Me: Where are you from

Jackson: Well I’m orignally from

Canton, Ohio.

Jackson: But I moved to Georgia a few

years ago

Me: Oh wow fun

Jackson: You sound real excited to talk

to me lmaoo

Me: Really? Is it that obvious?

Jackson: Hah well um I guess we can continue

this tomorrow if you want

Me: Wow I would just love that

Jackson: ._. ok then gn

I put my phone down and begin to wonder if I was too rude. I was just trying to joke around, but I don’t think he really got it. That happens with most people. I guess that’s one of the reasons I don’t have many friends. Although I don’t think she understands all the time, Hannah never seemed to mind my sarcasm. My eyes soon begin to feel heavy and I drift off to sleep.

Hi! I’m sure no one is going to ever read this, but that’s alright ig lol. Anyways, I know this is really cringey, but I felt like publishing this for some odd reason. There are probably a lot of errors in this because I’m not perfect and I make mistakes. :) I hope you don’t die from how cliche this is. Well that is if anyone does read this. Ok I’m sorry I’ll stop.

Have a nice day :)
