June

This was the day that would change her life forever. It was any normal day that a sweet, sexy girl would braid her long hair over her shoulder slip her aviators on her nose and a bikini on her chest. Of course that meant the beach.

"Evi lets go or we will leave you here and you'll have to stay home all day!" Mom called from down the hall. My sister stormed from the room as I put on a tank top and grabbed my flip flops.

"I'm coming," I hollered down the hall, "not that I wasn't an hour ago."

The boat was anchored bouncing in waves along the shore. BBQ's steamed, pretty girls burned, and boys tackled each other into the water over a football. I laid my head on my arms and swung my heels lazily under the warm sun, screw work, homework, life, its the weekend. The boat in the water is where I belong. Too bad everyone else cared about it today, weekends were family beach trip days, missing one of those to my family was like missing a birthday. One of those things you just don't want to do.

"Hey Evi," I looked up from my slight dozing, "long time no see."

"Right, oh wait that was yesterday, Seth." I rolled my eyes and flipped my braided hair off the side of the boat and into the water and went back to swinging my heels.

"Catch stupid!" a voice called from the shore as water soaked my warm back. Seth roared with laughter as he darted away from the boat.

"Hey!!!" I screeched and pushed up onto my arms. So much for a nap. "Who splashed me? Seth!"

"It wasnt me blame the guy who threw it." Seth put his hands up in mock defense, "Ross, why'd you throw that at Evi, now she's pissed at you and you've barely said a word to her." The boy on the shore dropped his jaw into the sand. "That's not the way to get a 'hot girl' to talk to you." Seth sneered and threw a soggy football back onto the shore.

I glared at the boy, who was almost hard to look at he was so pasty and rolled my eyes again. He wasn't half bad looking, but his face lit up like the sun when he saw me look up at him. Seth leaned up against the boat and waved flirtatiously up at Ross. "Would you please leave me alone?" I shoved his elbow off the cleat and he looked at me in mock hurt, "I was trying to take a nap."

I smirked evily and tossed my hips back onto the boat closing my eyes and letting the sun warm my chest. BBQ drifted through the air, my parents laughed and talked on the shore and my siblings were busy attempting to capture the impossible minnows.
