Prologue
Mary R. Watson is 29 years old and is the new detective in LAPD: Sex Crimes Unit. When she took the job she didn't realize that it would bring up old memories.She knows how to relate to people she helps because she herself went through some trauma as a child. She lost both her parents when she was 9 years old she had no other family that she could turn to. She was sent into the foster care system. She lost sight of love until she met Amber Sadler who became her best friend. Amber helped her see that there was hope for them both. When Amber and Mary were both 13 they got accepted into the same foster home. The foster mom was OK but the foster father Frank was not. He drank and he was hot tempered. Mary was terrified of him but Amber stayed strong. Mary didn't understand how Amber could be strong through all of the beatings they had received from him. This one day a guest had came over he was one of Frank's friends he was staying with them for awhile. One of the nights that he was with them he was getting a little too close to Mary to where she was uncomfortable. Mary had made an excuse that she was needed in the kitchen so she could get away from him. That same night he snuck into her room and forced himself on her she tried to get him off but he wouldn't. After that night she was scared of everyone except Amber she was helping her get through it. That was when Mary made a vow to herself that she would help anyone who went through anything like she did.
