Chapter 1 : Don't Ignore Me!
"Chris Walters please see me after class." Miss Daisy said. I sighed and nodded my head. It is because I failed my math exam again, well it is not my fault that I am bad at math. After she dismissed us for lunch break, I went to see Miss Daisy.
Miss Daisy said, "You have been failing your math again and again, I am going to assign you a tutor to help you in math so that means every math period you will go to the library instead." I protested, "I don't need a tutor, I'm fine on my own." Miss Daisy shook her head and said, "No Chris, you had said this to me many timed but you still failed your math exams." I sighed and said, "Fine but who is going to be tutoring me?" Miss Daisy smiled and said, "Well you will know soon."
I took my tray of food and sat down with my friends. Sean asked, "What took you so long?" I groaned, "Miss Daisy assigned me a tutor because I failed my math exam again, I told her I was fine on my own but she insisted." Damien asked, "So who is it that is going to be your tutor?" I shrugged and said, "No clue, she didn't tell me who is it." Oliver suggested, "Maybe she asked the student who is best in math." He paused before asking, "So who is the best in your class?" I said, "I don't know, it is not like I pay close attention to who is the best."
Sean changed the topic by asking, "Where the hell is Daniel? I don't see him around anymore." Oliver shrugged and said, "Beats me, I don't know what happened to him. He suddenly became sarcastic and cold, he also became a loner." Damien chipped in, "Yeah I mean he used to be as popular as us in school and he is outgoing and cheerful." We all nodded our head in agreement, I said, "Well Daniel used to be my best friend, now he just ignores me. When I try to talk to him, he would just glare at me or ask me to go away." I paused before saying, "I really want to know what happened to him."
After school, I saw Daniel walking out of his class. I ran towards him and greeted him by said, "Hey Daniel how are you?" Daniel rolled his eyes and said irritatedly, "You again? Seriously just leave me alone."Daniel walked away, I grabbed his arm and pulled him back. Daniel crossed his arms and asked rudely, "What do even want from me?" I sighed and said, "Look Daniel I just want to know why are you avoiding me? Did I do something that made you mad?" Daniel snapped, "Not everything is about you."
I asked, "Then why are you avoiding me?" Daniel sneered, "None of your business, you don't have to know." I pleaded, "Please Daniel tell me, I'm your best friend so you can tell me anything." Daniel laughed scornfully and said, "You? My best friend? Ha what a joke, you are not my best friend anymore." I asked sadly, "Why? What happened? Is it something that I did?" Daniel sighed and said, "How many times must I say not everything is about you." I said, "If it is not me then what is it?" Daniel shook his head and said, "You don't have to know as I said it is none of your business." With that he walked away, I sighed and decided to head home.
At home, I tried calling Daniel but he did not pick up. I tried texting him but he did not reply, I continued to send him messages but he did not reply. I wonder what happened to him and why is he avoiding me? Did I do something that made me pissed off at me? He did not say that I did something just now in school so why was he avoiding me? Is he hiding something from me? So many questions yet so little answers.
I decided to stop wasting time thinking and went to do my homework. My mind kept going back to the conversation between me and Daniel, I gave up trying to do my homework. I told myself that I will do it later after I clear my mind, I then put away my homework.
If only there was someone I could talk to, my friends are all busy and my parents are overseas because of work. Last time I had Daniel whom I could talk to but now I have none, I envy the other kids at school who had their parents to talk about their problems to. I sighed, so much for being born in a rich family.
I decided to give it a shot again, I took my phone and dialled Daniel's phone number. After awhile I heard a familiar voice said, "Why are you calling me?" I asked, "Is that really you Daniel?" Daniel said with sarcasm dripping from his voice, "No it's not Daniel, you got the wrong person." I sighed and said, "Cut the sarcasm,Daniel." I bet Daniel is rolling his eyes, he said irritatedly, "Fine I will stop for now, so why you are calling me?"
I thought about it for a while before replying, "I just want to talk to you, it's been a while since I last talk to you." Daniel snickered, "Seriously you are just calling me because of that? You're wasting my time." With that he hanged up, I sighed. I just want to talk to someone right now but apparently everyone is busy, even Daniel who supposingly was my best friend refused to talk to me. Oh well, I guess I will just finish up my homework and go to sleep.
At night, I tossed and turn. I can't sleep as I keep having nightmares, if only Daniel was here. Last time Daniel always came over to my house for sleepover after I told him I had nightmares, he would even cuddle with me. I miss him so much, I wonder what happen that made him changed.
