The beginning
Aria Blackburn (Lucy Hale)
My name is Aria Blackburn, I am the daughter of Alpha Peter Blackburn and Elisa Blackburn of the Silver Cresent pack in Ireland. My parents were both born with Alpha blood in them. So I guess you can say I'm a pure breed. It's rare we get pure breeds nowadays due to the curse that was stored upon us years ago. I'll go into details about that soon. Let me start at the beginning. We were once free to roam the beauty of the nature that encases us daily, but due to war between werewolves, vampires, witches, Sirens and hunters, we succumbed to nothing. We now roam against humans, who could be hunters or witches for all we know, or any of the other supernaturals that roam the earth with us just to keep ourselves hidden for who we really are. Nobody can know our secret apart from the one we are supposed to live the rest of our life with, they are called our soul mates, But really, they're just the other half of us. To humans their meaning of soul mates is different to ours. There's can be seen in friendships or relationships. With us werewolves, it's different. Much different. They complete the puzzle that forms our souls.
Back when the war broke out, Witches cast a spell on my kind to forever feel only half of ourselves are there, so we search and search for our other half. Never knowing if we are going to find them or not. Thankfully years ago, the moon goddess came to our aid and instead of the Witches spell being a curse, it was our light to find love for the rest of our lives, to know that, someone out there is our other half, is mesmerizing. You won't love anyone more than that person no matter who they are. Unless you're rejected. Which is an actual thing for us wolves. Either the human or your mates wolf can reject you and your wolf. Severing the bond you had completely. It feels like you're empty. Or worse you feel like you've died. There's a hole in your soul that won't be filled. You've lost yourself and the other half of you completely. Now it's not rare you get rejected in our kind. But when you do. Oof! It's hard to hide it when the pain is shown on your face. But anyways back on topic.
First, I should explain how my kind works. You see we don't turn into wolves only on a full moon, even though that's when our supernatural powers are at its highest peak. We get to shift whenever we want, but first, you have to go through the very first shift. Which can be extremely painful. Your bones have to break and realign themselves to form the shape of your wolf. It's different for everyone though as some are earlier shifters. Alpha's first turn by the age of twelve, whereas everyone else will have their first shift by sixteen. Or if you're a pure breed like me you shift at the age of ten. The only downside is, having to wait till you're eighteen to find your mate or soul mate as the book of ancient weres say. Hey I would know, I'm reading it to you whilst explaining. Ha! Seriously, it can be nerve wracking when you turn eighteen because your mate just may well be in another pack.
Secondly, we don't go around tearing our wolf teeth into anything that breaths, we are human as well as a wolf I have you know. Us and our wolves share the same thoughts. We are like two halves of a whole, or should I say half of a half. For us to feel complete, we need our mates by our side, their wolves connect to ours, enabling a strong connection that is basically unbreakable unless you die or as I mentioned earlier, rejected. We have heightened senses, like our sense of smell, we can smell blood or anything from a long distance away, the same with our eyesight. We can hide our scent too. Only poor thing about that is we can't hide it from our mates. We have a unique smell to our mates and no matter what they can't resist it. So trying to hide that from them is futile.
Thirdly, we have ranks in each pack. No we don't do it to separate the high from the low. We do it so there's order in the packs. Alpha and Luna are our higher rank in the pack. Next you have the Beta who's the second in command and will rule the pack when the alpha and luna are away. Then you've got the Gamma who's the third in command and head of our warriors. We still have battles with other packs. There isn't much peace nowadays to be friendly with everyone you know. Especially when we have rogues. You're probably thinking what are rogues. Well I'll tell you. Rogues are lone wolves who abandoned or got kicked out of their pack. They lose their human side once they become a rogue. Not much I can say about them. So back to pack ranks. We have our warriors who stand along the Alpha in battle with rogues or other packs. We don't have omegas. Some packs do but us no we don't like the title. Everyone here in my pack agrees too. Most packs treat the omegas poorly. They get used as a punching bag and god knows what else.
I'll tell you more if I had more to tell but I think that just about wraps up everything. Besides I need a walk. Sitting here in this dusty office really makes me miss the outside of the walls I'm in. So let's put this book away and get out and begin the story shall we?
After all this is my story.
