Chapter 1

Kerria sat at her desk, staring at the last of the mess of a filing system that her dad considered useful. The only thing left to do was to file the ledgers and payroll into the right folders. Which was put on hold when they got the news of their mothers suicide, and the fates were not done destroying their life. Shortly after burying her mother, she's going to have to bury a brother, alone. She laid her head on the desk as the tears burned her eyes and fell onto the picture of her eldest brother, Jonathan.

He and Derek had been Navy SEALS, they had been in the same team, Jonathan's death shattered something inside Derek and he would not talk to anyone. He was cold and distant, he quit the SEALS to come work for the company. But he wasn't the same person anymore, the Derek she knew would never touch a whiskey bottle. This Derek, when home from missions was passed out on the couch drunk with a whiskey bottle hanging from his hand. The only time that he was solidly sober was when they had upcoming ops.

Her life was spinning out of control and all she wanted was to go back in time, to when everyone was alive and happy. But when she remembered the happy memories, she would baul. She was in the middle of doing just that when there was a knock on her office door. Kerria cleared her throat, about to tell whoever was the unlucky soul to be knocking on her door to go fuck a tree. She was not in the mood to deal with any bullshit. When she opened her mouth to say the words, the complete opposite set of words came out.

"Come in"

What the hell? No I do not want you to come in whoever the hell you are.

The door opened and she could feel electricity fill the room before the man spoke she knew who it was. Logan

Tears sprang to Kerrias eye's again as she watched him close the door, turn to her and opening his arms in a gesture of a hug. Loosing the appearance of mercenary and turning into her savior. She all but leaped over the desk and ran into his waiting arms.

"I don't know what to do, I'm losing everyone, m- my dad, m- my mom, then m- my brother. And Derek, my own twin i-is slipping away from me." Kerria sobbed into Logan's shirt, Logan held onto her tight because he wasn't a man of very many words. Yes he had sisters, but they never wanted words of comfort. They always said that his hugs and just knowing that he was there helped.

How do you comfort someone who has been told the same things over and over? It'll be ok, it'll get better, or time will heal the wounds. How do you help heal someone when their wounds keep getting reopened?

Logan gently placed his hand under her chin and lifted her head up so he could look her in her beautiful green eyes. Then kissed her deeply showing her what he wanted to tell her, because he never had the words to give life to the way he felt about her. He wanted to protect her, shield her from the pain that the fates seemed to be determined to rain down over her beautiful soul.

He would make sure that she knew his feelings and that he would stay by her through this shit storm that was constantly. Destorying her life, Logan broke the kiss and looked once again in her eyes and brushed a tear away from her eye.

"You'll get through this, my love, I'll spend every waking moment to prove it to you and I'll make sure to be by your side when the sun brightens your horizon again. Now let's take your mind away from the loss and plan something fun to do when we get back home. Sound okay love?" Logan asked and Kerria nodded,

"Sounds like a perfect idea my handsome."
