1 | All good things to those who wait.

Too many people miss the silver lining because they're too busy searching for the gold.

Robyn Carter strutted down the hallway in her black Louboutin stilettos like she owned the place. In a way, she did. She held her head high and the bustling crowd parted for her like they did everywhere she ventured.

As usual, a perky blonde and a level-headed brunette fell into step behind her, flaunting their designer bags on their elbows. Robyn flicked her raven hair over her shoulder and turned towards her locker. Finally, her head turned to the two girls by her side.

"What's the update, girls?" She asked and leant on her locker.

The blonde stepped forward. "Well, Tisha and Brad have finally broken up. He found out she was cheating on him -ugh, what a slut- at a house party last weekend." She fished the phone out of her Chanel bag and showed the video of Tisha Brown and her now-ex-boyfriend Brad Windshore. They were fighting by the looks of it and Brad walked away leaving a distraught Tisha reduced to tears.

Robyn smiled, finally having enough evidence - and reason- to kick Tisha out of the Elites. The girl was annoying and always had the nerve to question how Robyn ruled her kingdom. The typical jealous bitch. Always has been, always will be.

"Who was it with?" Robyn asked, curious to who had replaced Brad.

"Ty Wells." This time it was Isabelle - the brunette - who answered the Queen's question.

Ty Wells. The school's typical class clown. Handsome, tall and smart. World's second biggest player, best friends with the most popular male - Aiden Smith.

Fortunately for Robyn, Aiden hadn't been in the picture in over two years, leaving his best friend to take over the image of "the player" - as they liked to call it. Robyn mentally rolled her eyes. Those guys went through girls like tissue paper, throwing them away when they're done with them. Yet girls still came crawling back for more.

Pathetic.

Robyn made sure that none of her Elite got close to any of "the players". She didn't want to make a fool out of her girls. And when the Elites did "hook up" with them, well, they can wave her goodbye.

"Kitty?" Robyn asked and turned to the blonde. "Make sure she gets the message that she is no longer welcome here. I want you to make it scandalous."

Kitty saw the smirk playing on Robyn's lips and immediately knew:

Robyn Carter was going to ruin yet another life.

♠️

Aiden Smith didn't like being told what to do and when he was told he had to move back to his hometown, he flipped.

It's wasn't his fault that half of the mansion was almost burned down. Aiden wasn't even there! He was outside hooking up with some random girl with pink hair. It was, in fact, Ty's fault. He chose to hook up with a taken girl, not Aiden! It wasn't Aiden that started a fight with Brad Windshaw and lost! And then attempted to light the guy on fire!

Mr Smith, of course, didn't believe a single word that tumbled from his son's mouth. Too many times had Aiden thrown a party without his father knowing and too many times had he lied about it.

This was the last straw.

Now, he was forced to move back to New York and into his mother's lavish mansion. Aiden was, however, excited to see how his kingdom had blossomed in his leave. He had to admit, over the last two years, Aiden missed the feeling of power and superiority. Something about the way people would quiver away from the sight of their "King" gave him a power rush he relished.

Aiden climbed up the steps of his father's private jet and made his way to the private suite. Just as he was settling down for the eight hour flight ahead of him, the phone in his pocket vibrated. Seeing the the name on the screen, Aiden felt obliged to answer.

"Yes, mother?"

"Oh, Aiden, my baby!" A sweet but firm voice echoed down the line. "What's this I hear about you stirring up trouble with your father?"

Aiden sighed. Standing up, he headed towards where Mr Smith kept the champagne. "Of course not, mother."

He heard a deep sigh of her own.

"Don't you dare lie to me, young man! You're already on thin ice!"

"Mother, it was hardly my fault!" Aiden exclaimed, pouring the expensive champagne into a glass and bringing it to his lips. "You know Ty. Always looking for a fight."

"What was it about this time?"

"This girl he was fucking. Found out she had a boyfriend," he responded into the phone and took another sip of the French wine.

"Aiden Gabriel Smith! Language!" His mother gasped and Aiden knew that she was throwing her hands in the air.

"Fine. This girl he was sleeping with. Happy?" He said and rolled his dark brown eyes.

"Extremely." There was an echo on the other side of the line. "Sorry, darling. Duty calls. But don't think your off the hook! We'll talk more later. Love you!"

Before he could even reply with a "I love you, too" the line went dead.

Downing the rest of the champagne, he fell back onto the silk sheets of the double bed. Aiden closed his eyes and drifted into a deep sleep.
